I have a Goodman system and I have water leaking from the the small box next to my furnace. I have what looks like 3 lines running from unit to this box. One is a small copper one, another is a line wrapped in insulation and the other is a clear plastic hose. I look at the clear plastic hose that runs to it from the ac unit and it looks clogged with dirt all through it. Not sure if thats the problem. Also a side note, my air gets cool but not cold. any suggestions

The clear plastic hose is the condensate drain .. indeed they clog frequently .. lthat will allow water to overflow the pan that is desined to capture condensed water from the evaporator.. the plastic hose and the pipe it is attached to need to be cleaned out periodically ... allowing water to overflow can damage other things so its important to get the drain cleared .. however that drain has little to do with cooling efficiency .. your lack of cooling performance could be another problem ... sometimes the evaporator coil gets clogged (large finned unit behind where the overflow hose is attached inside furnace) .. that has to be cleaned once in a while but is tricky to do ... how often depends on how good the furnace air filter is and how often its changed ... as the evaporator becomes clogged with dust the cooling efficiency goes down .. same with the outdoor unit ... you have to wash out leaves and such periodically from the condenser coils .... if every thing is clean but the cooling efficiency is still low then have the unit checked for refrigerrant pressure .. it could be low .. of course make sure the furnace filter is not clogged ... also for cooling make sure all of the registers are open ... closing some can reduce overall efficiency ... make sure the outdoor unit fan is working properly ..

Why would my goodman gas furnace leak water from the panel that the blower motor is attached to?

the only reason water would come out of your furnace is if you also have your AC in the same system, and the condensation line is not allowing the water to drain properly.

If the water only happens during cooling, clear the condensation line. If it is happening during a heating cycle you may have an improperly connected thermostat, a bad control board, etc...

New goodman 80% gas furnace leaking condesation down exhaust vent

it could be condensation. or poor seal at roof. probably the seal at roof. also check the larger copper line is it sealed good? if any spot is not this will cause leaking when in cooling mode. maybe dripping from line onto vent.

I have a 5-year old Goodman furnace/AC. It has a drain trap on the side which looks like a cup with 2 hoses coming into it from and a drainage pipe coming out into the sump pump. Recently I noticed a...

Hello, it sounds like your condensate line is clogged and not be able to drain into the condensate pump or your condensate pan is cracked and leaking. Best thing to do is clean the condensate line with a shop vac and see if the water will start to drain, if not looks like the pan is cracked.

There is water leaking out from the bottom of my furnace. It leaks whenever the ac is running.

Hello, sounds like a clogged condensate line or a faulty condensate pump if the unit has one. Cleaning the drain line should fix the problem.

Due to the many different questions I see about Air Conditioning, I am including this overview to help us better understand each other for trouble shooting. A basic air conditioning system has a Thermostat, Air Handler or Furnace Fan and a Condensing unit. In a split system, the condensing unit (Condenser) is separate from the furnace and usually in the back yard. When working properly, it blows hot air. It connects to the cooling part of the system by 2 copper lines. One large line and 1 small line. The part that cools the house is the "Evaporator" and is usually on top of the furnace inside the square metal box (Plenum). When the Air Conditioner is running, the large copper line should be cold and the smaller line should be warm. Common signs of low refrigerant are that both lines are the same temperature and/or frost or ice has built up on the large line at the condenser. The thermostat will normally display room temperature on till it is touched to change the setting. It could have a "Span" setting as well as times and temperatures. The operating "span" of MOST residential thermostats is 40 to 90 degrees. That means you can set it as low as 40 degrees and no higher than 90 degrees. It probably has a fan switch also. When in the "ON" position, the fan will run constantly, 24 / 7, but the condenser will still cycle on and off as needed to keep the house at set point. If you have a suggestion to include in this paragraph, please let me know.

I think I have it covered above. Let me know if you need something more specific. Thank you. Roger

Vent motor shuts on and off repeatedly before igniting furnace on goodman high eff furnace

Look at the black hoses inside the unit. Remove power to the furnace and remove these lines and clean them out with a water and clorox solution. Then inspect the condensate drain line for algae build-up and clean as necessary. Its shutting down because the pressure switch is seeing a small back pressure from a blockage. Most likely water that has not drained. It tries this three times before it shuts down for 5 minutes and tries again. The blockage can also be inside the black manifold that these lines run to before the condensate drain line. This can also be removed and cleaned out if necessary. Check for proper slope of the drain line to prevent this in the future and service/clean these lines anually.

Furnace faults out for water blockage in Coil front cover

I think the drain is restricted and not allowing the water to drain fast enough. As the inducer collects water it is normal for the vacuum to increase. Is there a vent on the condensate drain to break the vacuum? If not, add one by cutting in a tee on the drain line as it exits the furnace and put a 4or5" stand pipe above the tee. Is the unit displaying any blinking lights by viewing thru a small window? If so, remove the lower panel and look on the wiring diagram for an error code to give you a starting point where to look. If you are getting a 3 blink error code, what I mentioned above may help. There should be no water leaking into the furnace, you need to figure where the water is coming from and need to stop it.
