Miles don't mean a thing in this instance. miles only tell us a small bit about the wear on the machine cuz' as you know not all miles are the same. I know that my miles are like dog years when it comes to puts. I ride hard and fast and wear out pegs as fast as tires man! but thats another story. where is the pressure guage? think about that, but also think about this, your partners machine is sending mixed signals. the oil light means LOW pressure cuz it usually goes out when the mill starts spinnin at idle right? but then the guage is readin high. what kinda guage?where is it tapped in? if its on the gear case and thats high and the light sensor is in the pump then somethin in between aint right? need more info and i will look at the plumbing on the evo I'm a little rusty there

MY OIL PRESSURE GUAGE PEGS HIGH WHEN THE TRUCK IS RUNNING. IT ALSO PEGS HIGH WHEN I JUST TURN THE KEY AND DONT START IT AND WHEN I TURN IT OFF IT GOES BACK TO ZERO. THANK YOU

Whats the make and model? Depending on what you are driving it sounds like either your oil filter is plugged up and you need an iol change, you have oil that is too thick in there, too much oil, or possably a clog in the oil pump or paths running to and from that area

Oil guage drops then goes to high range

sounds like your sending unit needs to be replaced cheap fix and if your oil pump losses all its pressure you will begin to hear knocking coming from your motor from the top under the heads.

Oil pressure guage pegs out when I accelerate--WHY

Check wiring to sensor on motor clean or replace. If that is OK.then consider: older high mileage cars will start to ware their bearing and causing more back pressure under load, you may have to live with it. Unless you what to rebuild motor.

The oil pressure guage on my 2006 nissan frontier is reading very high after recently changing the oil, however, the correct amount of oil was added during the change. Furthermore the oil dipstick...

The guage may rise a little when you accelerate the vehicle...but if it is pegged high, and does not fluctuate, when you turn your ignition key on an off...Your oil pressure switch maybe going bad...Goodluck

When my truck gets real hot the oil preasure guage starts bouncing when truck idles as soon as truck is put into park or is reved up a bit it stops bouncing

You may have a Faulty Oil Pressure Sender.
Here are some reason why your guage is bouncing:
  • Corrosion or faulty electrical connections
  • If the oil pressure gauge is pegged low after the engine is running, or is pegged high after the engine is running, or if there is intermittent illumination of an oil pressure indicator light, the sender could be faulty
You can find the oil sensor on the left hand side near the Oil Filter, as long as you don't hear your lifters ticking and making lots of noise. it's not your oil pump failing.
Good luck and hope this helps

Low Oil Pressure on 1992 Chevy 1500 Pickup Truck

Hi! The problem you are outlining is very similar to the Rover V8 (Buick engine). We Brit's are used to the low oil pressure when warm. I presume a complete oil change engine flushed with new replacement filter has been carried out? Maybe a top quality synthetic oil with additive may help. You may take it a little further and replace the oil pump with an after market performance up rated one. If you really are worried about low oil pressure damage whilst in low rev's try Molybnenum Disulphide an oil additive which really reduces friction metal to metal wear particulary in the situation you are describing.
That's the best I can suggest at this moment.
Good Luck! and Happy New Year!
