The TV will play just fine however, the after a few seconds of it being on, a black square pops up in the middle of the screen.

It sounds like closed captioning may have been turned on accidently. Refer to page 34 of the manual and try turning it off:

It is not the closed caption. The square was way bigger, it covered up like half of the screen. Anyway, new problem, yesterday after I got back home, the tv would not turn on anymore. The red power button would just flash. The tv would make the sound like it was turning on but the screen remained blank.

U have the tv original remote wright?Yes.Used ur tv remote look for a button that said CC.Pushes a few times make sure all like CC1,2,3 so on to all off.The black square box show up in the middle of the tv screen,numbers and printting words on the screen it is are call Close Caption for the hearing impair person to read,will disappear from the middle of the tv screen.

The functions of the Captioning 1,2,3 or Text 1,2,3 is still on.Go into the tv menu turn off all the Captioning like 1,2,3 to off and Text 1,2,3 to off.Will not have anymore black box flash on the middle of the tv screen.

Black square box pops up in the middle of tv screen.

It is most likely related to the Closed Captioning option on your TV. Go into settings and make sure that CC is turned off, or make sure it's set to CC1. What you are probably seeing is the "text" option included in the CC options.

this is pip,,,if you can noy find botton on menu...unplug 5 min....return pkug to wall socket push and hold power botton for 5 seconds....this should fix it!

He, he. Somebody activated the subtitle mode on the remote. Desactivate the CC mode on your menu and it'll go away or at least if you want CC put it in CC1 Text1
