You have a defrost issue. Thus the code.Check the back wall of the freezer section. Do you see frost? Yes means that the sensor or the heater is shorted? The control seems fine but it could be bad. Can't tell with out tests being preformed. Usually the sensor that goes bad. I can help you if you are up to disassembling and testing. Do you have tools and a multimeter?
what the problem most likely is a failed part of the defrost system Do you see a bunch of frost built up on the back wall of the freezer? If you do frost build up, take off the back wall of the freezer and replace the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. A hair dryer could be used to melt the built up frost from the coil behind the back wall. Another part that will cause frost build up is the defrost control, that isn't the freezer behind the back wall but instead it is part of the main computer board on the back of the refrig. I would replace heater/defrost thermostat first though, since they are the most likely to fail parts.
I hope my answer will help you to fix your refrigerator, Gene
freezer may be frosted up look on the back wall of freezer see if there frost if so there is a defrost problem there is a defrost control that may be bad
hi , your defrost is bad and your freezer build ice till no cold air can floe from the freezer to the frig section...
your freezer cabinet need to get all out and open the back wall.
you have 2 element that can be check one is the heating element , two is the thermostat.
you need a volt meter to check them.
if the frost is all over the coils then one of the element i told you before, is bad
if the frost is in one area not all over then you got gas leak.

niether. is there frost on back wall of freezer? if no look behind back wall and see if there is frost on all the coils when running. if less than 80% is frosty...freon. or is there frost covering back panel..if so then defrost problem would be correct. but side would be warm so I think not.
I had a similar problem. The frost in the back is an indication that your coils are frozen. This could be from food packages falling out of the freezer drawers in the back and blocking the air circulation vents or maybe the freezer door was not closed completely and letting moist/humid air in and freezing the coils. For me it was the first problem listed.I had to completely empty the freezer and Frig. and take the back panel off in the freezer. There you will see the coils and lots of ice! 1. Remove all items from the frig. and freezer and unplug frig. 2. Pull all the freezer drawers out. 3. On my GE side by side I took the light cover off and removed the bulb. There you will see two panel screws. Remove the screws. 4. Now pull out the mouldings on each side and you should be able to remove the panel. 5. Take a hair drier and completely defrost all the ice from the coils. Be sure to keep plenty of towels handy for all the water mess. Remember to keep an eye on the drain tray in the back of the frig. and use a sponge to collect the water that will build up. Hope this helps!..... Woody
