I have a sony trinitron 36" flat screen tv. The unit was purchased in 2002. We had an electrical storm but tv was off. The next day the tv has a picture (shakes) with a solid green vertical line on the left side of the screen. Small horizontal lines along the top of the screen. any ideas? Thanks
Unfortunately, TV sets are not equipped with adequate internal protection against electrical storm damage, and it doesn't matter that the TV was turned off if it was left plugged in to an active electrical receptacle and/or directly connected to an antenna or an Internet data line. The fact that you can still receive anything at all indicates that the TV set can probably be repaired at a service shop, but for future protection of the set you should purchase a good surge protection device such as the one found at the below link.

U have magnatic degausing coil problem.Take the tv aparts,there a solid back coil all around inside the front frame of ur tv.That the cause,unplug that coil,should not effect the tv pic if have no magnatics problems.
