Question about Ximeta (NDU10200CU)

Open Question

ION Network, Ximeta NDAS Network storage device.

I have recently switched computers from Windows XP SP2 to Windows Vista Premium. While operating under Windows XP SP2 I had no problems accessing and writing filed to our NDAS Network storage device. I have since installed the device on my computer with Vista and can access the device and even see folders on the device but when I try to open certain office documents an error message saying that there was a problem accessing the document and that I would need to - check to make sure I have enough storage, -make sure I have permission to open the document from the administrator, or -to run recovery and repare to open the document. I have tried everything except reinstalling Mircosoft Office 08 to see if there is a problem there. All of my drivers are updated (after a thourough check) and I have checked to make sure that the administrator has given me permission to read and write files on the device (which has been made open to the public). Is there a Windows patch that might help me or should I proceed to reinstall Microsoft Office 08?

SOURCE: win 7 64 bit freeze

I have the same problem. I don't have the right solution but I discovered a workaround.
The problem occurs everytime when I install a windows 7 update.
My work around:

  1. When Windows determines an update I disable the NDAS service with msconfig
  2. The update is installed without the NDAS service operational.
  3. After update I enable the NDAS service with msconfig
  4. I restart my computer. Then it freezes.
  5. After a hard reset, the computer restarts in Safe modus. I restart my computer and my computer works, till the next windows 7 update. Then I start again van 1.
Very suboptimal, but it works.

Can't use VPC-CG9 as PC camera.

I don't know why this wouldn't work on Vista HP, but this excerpt from the manual suggests that your XP SP1 Pro would not work without the SP2 rollup:

"Please perform the following upgrades before connecting the camera to a computer.
-Upgrade Windows XP to SP2.
Install Windows XP SP2.
-Install Windows Messenger 5.0 or later version.
Download Windows Messenger 5.0 or later version, and install it.
-If using MSN Messenger, please install MSN Messenger 7.0 or later
version."

Perhaps if you are following the steps exactly in the manual and it still does not work, upgrading Messenger will magically help.

You need to stop using Vista as Microsoft has not supported it since 2014. OK to use Vista for a while after 2014 because Windows Update still gave security updates for other Windows products (Word, Works, etc.). But now, Windows Update for Vista will not work anymore for anything. At least switch to Windows 7 as Microsoft will probably support it until 2020.
