THe a/c has very weak flow of air blowing even with the fan on high. My last carrier had a high volume of air coming out of the vents which was adjusted by the installer as I desire room by room. This installer said the latest carrier units are designed differently and dont allow for adjustments. It takes hours for the house to cool down a few degrees and runs continuously. It only will cool below 74 degrees when the temperature outside is under 77. I have had several installers to look at it. One agreed he never heard of adjusting how much air blows out of the vents. One said i had to rip out all the ductwork and replace it -- said they weren't big enough. Another wanted to replace all the vents. No one seemed to know how or if you can adjust the air flow coming through the vents. My first installed came back three times to adjust the air flow. It was so strong that it was bmoving the prisms on the chandelier. So, what do I do to increase the volume of air blowing so I don't have to run fans to distribute the cool air. Thanks. THe unit is Carrier and is two years old.

Hi,
It sounds like you got shafted and the guy installed a smaller air handler unit with a smaller motor to try to make more of a profit...
The problem is getting an unbiased opinion from someone who knows their stuff...sad to say but stuff like this happens all the time...
Here are a couple of tips that I wrote that may help you...

On my 1998 olds 88 I don't seem to have a good volume of air coming from the vents. The fans blow the a/c is cold but just not good air flow. How can increase the air flow?

Hello and welcome to FIxYa!
You may want to check on the vents for it can be closed half way. If the vents are good then the problem will surely be on the blower itself. It can be worn out that's why the blower motor blows weak. Once replaced I believe you'll be good.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

The air is cold, but even when the fan is on high, the air conditioner of my 2004 mpv blows very weak and won't cool van very well.

hello l..... Begin by replacing the air conditioner relay. That should solve the weak fan volume. If the AC still is not as cold as it should be get the AC system charged [add more refrigerant]. The charging requires special tools so most folks leave that to the pros at the garage. Joe

My Carrier 43B00HP - 1 is not blowing cool air. The fan is working but the cool air isnt coming out. If you turn it on and leave it on for awhile it turns off by itself

Please check your compressor whether it takes correct amphs. Due to weak in capacitor and also less rpm of fan motor the compressor gets overheated and it turns the unit off. If capacitor weak change it. If less rpm on fan motor change fan capacitor or fan motor.

Air not blowing from vents..or not cooling

It is quite possible the indoor coil is frozen up. This can be caused by dirty filter, dirty coil or low on freon. Turn ac to "off" and fan switch to "on" for 45 minutes. Then try again and see if air flow improves.

A/C blows weak/low volume of air through vents

I f it is fan that has more then one speed if you run it all the time,it may
not be on high sample : low fan speed runs all the time
med fan speed for heat
high fan speed is usually for air conditioning so if everything is good then it maybe the relay.

Very low air flow through vents despite the fan working well

It is very likely that the Air conditioner evaporator core is restricted due to leaves or some other object may be blocking air flow like a plastic bag, does it do this on both outside air and recirculation setting?
