  • darth emac May 15, 2008

Today I went to turn it on and no response, I tried hard reset, removing the batt. nothing works it is D E A D dead. I checked the voltage on the batt I get 3.5 volts between pins 1-3, 2-3, 3-5, 3-6, I get 3.10 between 3-4, no other combination gives me power.

I belive this means the batt is good, but if some one know other wise I am open to learn.

I can only especulate on all the possible reasons, so let go one by one throuh them and their possible solutions:
1. The RX3000 Ipaq family has a known mechanical issue on the switch that senses when the back cover lid is properly closed.

When the switch is nor properly depressed, the PDA won't charge the battery if plugged on the cradle or to the USB sync cable, or won't turn on.

Remove the back cover lid and the battery, put them back again. Check the cover lid is placed flush and that there is not any gap between the cover and the PDA body.

Try again in power it on and/or charge the battery, confirming the orange LED light is turning on.

2. Either the cradle/USB sync cable or the AC wall adapter are defective.

The PDA won't power on if the battery is not charged to the minimum voltage for it. If the AC wall adapter or the cable/Cradle are defective, won't power on.

Put to charge the battery and confirm the orange LED light is turning on. If so, the you can discard that the cradle/USB cable or AC wall adapter are defective.

It the orange LED light won't turn on, it may be either one of these three parts that are defective, or that the back cover lid is not properly closed.

3. The battery dried out. If the battery is defective or won't accept charge, the pda won't power on.

To discard a defective battery, put the PDA to charge it, and it will power on when plugged to the USB cable or to the charger, and check in the settings screen, on the power icon, if the battery is charging.

If the back cover lid is properly placed, and the PDA won't power on when plugged to the USB cable or AC wall adapter, then the battery is not the problem.

4. Discarding that the battery or the USB cable or cradle or the back cover lid are the problem for this problem, the only option that is left is that the main board is defective.

Such failure on the mainboard could be caused for several reasons (moisture or humidity or water damage, or a electronic component that is worn out, or a integrated circuit that is shorted, etc) but it can be only verified and confirmed by an electronics technician.

You have the option of send it to be repaired, or try it yourself, which will require to buy a PDA with working mainboard (or the mainboard alone) and swap the parts. It requires a minimum of technical skills to do it.

PDA will not perform any of my commands..its frozen

Hello, Tallman.

I'd suggest to perform a soft reset then a hard reset, if the soft reset doesn't work.

Then if necessary, as this may or may not be a simple solution, depending on your particular brand and model:

Remove the back of the PDA. Remove and reinsert the battery.

Hope this helps.

Dropped my Pocket PC. I could not turn it on, so

Without the model number it is hard to be specific.
I would try a Hard reset.
Some of the Hp Pda's have a battery door detect switch. You might try removing the battery door and battery. leave the battery out for a few minutes and then re-assemble.

Dell Axim will not power on

From what I have been told is to never download any emails onto the PDA. By doing this it always totally rinses out your battery. If you are doing this then you should get rid of that feature, otherwise contact Dell for a replacement if its possible.

Acer n310 pda power problem

I have a Acer pda model C530 and it has a switch that detects if the cover is correctly inserted, check that switch, buy electronic contact cleaner spray and clean it (and clean the battery contacts,on/off button) if possible try with a new or known good battery. If it has dropped to the floor it might have some bad contacts.

Dell Axim X50 PDA won't turn on

Had the same problem. Did some research and fixed the problem by performing a "soft reset". Tap the reset indentation on the back once quickly. Do NOT hold it in or you will lose all saved data. Mine's working fine now.

Palm Tungsten E2 won't work after power cord is removed.

The traditional steps for resetting charging problems are:
1) press reset /while/ the power cord is plugged in
2) unplugging the battery for about 30 seconds, then plugging it back in

You have done #2, but I do not know if you have done #1. Try it, then try to recharge again. If that fails then you probably need a new battery. I have found them on eBay before.

Non-Responsive PDA

You may have to do a hard reset. You hold one finger at the power and the other hand hold your stylus and his reset. This technique is applied to most PDA.

Dead; will not boot up

I to have the same problem. Palm will switch a refurbished on to me for $175. To talk ot their tech support will cost $25. I have decided to do 1 of 2 things. 1. replace the microdrive with a 4Gb Compact flash and if that is not successful, just throw it away and NEVER get another Palm product. Mine died just after the warranty ran out. 12 months plus a few days.
