The pull chain on my Regency ceiling fan has 4 positions, but the speed doesn't change: it runs on high speed for each of the first 3 positions, and then turns off at position 4.

Mcdevito75 here Chances are the switch to change the fan speed is faulty, contact Ellington or see any store that sells ceiling fans for replacement switch if you can get one.

I have a 3 speed fan controlled by 3 speed wall switch; fan hums on low, louder hum on medium, and high position eliminates hum but speed reduced to low. Is it the fan or the wall switch?

Check the capacitor (black box with wires going to switch) and see if that's going bad. If it's not that, take the control out of the wall and just use the pull chain to see if it runs correctly. If it does, you need a new wall control. DO NOT USE A DIMMER SWITCH!

Craftmade Ceiling Fan Problems

Make sure your fan is on high with the pull chain switch. Push the remote Hi button then pull the chain until it's on the high speed, Then DO NOT use the pull chain. Same with light , Push light button on remote then pull chain until it's on then leave the chain alone. If that doesn't do the trick then you probably need a new receiver.

How to attach an on/off chain to a ceiling light- the original broke off somewhere inside. The fan switch is intact. This is one unit.

You need the little coupler thing that connects to the ball that makes up the chain. If you dont have the coupler ... you could get one at your local Ace Hardware store ... or you could just purchase a similar switch which would have the coupler on the chain.

Ceiling fan stuck on low

in order for the remote control to work properly the fan has to be on its highest speed using the pull chain ... after setting the pull chain in the proper position you can tie up the chain or remove it to prevent others from changing the setting .. the remote will control the speed from then on ..

No middle speed.

Replacing the pull switch (reostat) should have solved your problem. Try going to the internet at www.google.com and in the Google search box enter "Hampton Bay Fans homepage". If any of these suggestions have been helpfull, please rate my solution. Thanks D. Lange

Hunter ceiling speed.

A fan that old has a muilti speed capacitor. It could be that or the swicth. First thing to do is test the swicth with a voltage tester to see if power is switched to different posts if it does switch it is prob. the cap. Good luck trying to find one.
