Try installing the WEBcam driver. You can download WEBcam driver from the laptop manufacturer's WEB site. I cannot give you the link to this WEB site because you did not provide details of the make and model of your laptop.
do you have a clymer manual-it contains detailed rebuild--you know bottom work is really touchy and if things arent done just rite--issues! even pros develop problems
Go to this site and get a manual, it will give you the wiring diags etc and make your job much easier. I looked it up on my bikes manual and these items are on different fuse lines so I am buggered too. You may have some poor earths, that could cause your problem.
ive just bought a house with unidare night stoarge heaters and one of mine hasnt worked - i found something on a site that said this:
"My Unidare storage heaters have a fused link (may be the wrong term ) that melt ever few years. Are you able to unscrew the top of the unit and look ( all turned off etc ) -A Fused link looks like an inch long piece of 5 mm solder - if yours has melted it will probably be in silver balls/blobs - replacing is easy if you have got to them."
so this could be why they arent working...
at night set the input to high (6) and output to about 3...in the morning set the output to 2/3 so a bit of heat will be released when at work, and then when you come in set the output to 6 (max)....should work! ive only just learnt what to do but ive they arent great!
its possible that there aren't any drivers for xp using that specific computer. most hardware on computers designed for vista will not have the xp drivers. if they arent on the compaq site or the hardware OEM site, they wont exist, your system will probably run better (in most cases) using the operating system it was built for, theres a whole list of things that can still go wrong for you (i.e the OEM making you do a recovery in order for support) ....i know its not good news but im 99% sure because ive seen alot of it in this past year

Driver could be corrupt. Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off.
I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with
the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the
printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud
