Clothes not drying - fan ok, heat ok

Hello,
I tried pushing in the little square switch (it clicked), but no luck.
The dryer is working visually; the fan's spinning, the square metal box on top of the drum is hot - but clothes do not dry.

Any ideas? - would be greatly appreciated!!

    Hi,

we have the same problem. Miele WT945 is washing and heating up. but the drying cycle just doesn't dry.

Need to find a technical manual for repairs. I suspect the heating element is failing.

Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

I just had a Miele tech fix this. There are several causes for this. One cause is a motor fault with the fan motor or a bad belt. Second issue is a blocked up condenser. Finally the issue is electronic and the electronic panel needs to be replaced. The electronic panel consists of small relays that can burn out.

My issue was the electronic panel.

To test a blocked up condenser, is to take the top panel off, and spin the fan motor (by hand). If you feel resistance, you have a clogged condenser which must be replaced (Always run 'Remove Fluff' cycle so this never happens after every dryer use).

To test the fan, take the connector off and 'carefully' connect to 220v to the fan motor (checking polarity). Only do this, after you reset the switch (found in the rectangle box in the middle of the Miele metalwork on top) and made sure the fan does not work automatically when a drying cycle is selected.

The most expensive repair is the eectronic module which costs £175 plus £99 Miele callout.

Dryer was working when I left, came home clothes were dry, but now will not restart. Pushing start button does nothing. Light is on in tub when I open door.

this sure has all the suspicions that it's the thermal safety switch , (1) it worked on last load
(2) nothing happens when start is pushed
( 3) tub light works ok

both gas and electric models have one , and they both do go bad , the switch is mounted usually at top of air outlet tunnel on back of dryer , some do have reset buttons , but rarely do they trip for false reasons , something musta happened to cause a high heat build up in dryer ,Lint build-up is most common reason I can think of

Not drying efficiently. Air moving ok, heat appears to be ok. Would like to open it up to visually inspect it. With event off slight burning smell. Would like to verify clean of lint.

If it tumbles and it heats up but your clothes don' t dry disconnect the vent tube from the the wall and run a load of wet clothes if they dry then your homes venting is clogged and if it still does not dry then it could be your thermal fuse.

Whirlpool dryer doesnt heat, time and shut off when you open the door

if you have it on time dry and it doesn't count down the timer is bad but it should stop when you open the door unless you have a broken door switch too, just open the door and push in on the switch with your finger,it should make a clicking sound,if not the door switch is also broke,if you have the timer on auto or more or less then it won't move without heat.on auto the heat comes on when the dryer reaches temp. the heat shuts off and the timer will advance a little, then the heat starts again and the timer stops,it will do this until the clothes are dry by using a sensor instead of time.

Clothes not drying, but dryer runs & heats
1.defective operating thermostat---test thermostat, replace if defective

3.incorrect heat or timer settings---reset timer
4.clothes to wet when placed in dryer----wring out or extract water from clothes before placing in dryer
5.clogged lint screen or duct (little air motion)---clean out lint screen & duct

The dryer wont heat up the clothes dont get dry everything eles works on it the drum turns ok the timer works also it just wont dry the clothes

Hello,Sam

The usual reason a dryer will heat yet not dry the clothes is going to be a air flow problem. What ya need to check is for a blocked vent and or lint build up in the blower assambly.

By far though a leading cause of that on Maytag dryers is a broken blower wheel and therefore no warm air is being drawnthrough the clothes,to check that remove the front panel and the front drum support and in the lower left corner will be the blower asm. check to see if it moves free and doesnt seem to be attached to the motor shaft.

Dryer won't heat...replaced heating unit...and still no heat...dryer is eletric...dryer still runs...just no heat

Hi,

Visually inspect the heating element, burner operation, ignitor, thermal fuse.
Make sure there is nothing blocking the front of the dryer. Air flow is key to efficient drying. Make sure the dryer settings are appropriate for the clothes you want to dry. The timer selection, fabric selection, and the temperature selection all play important roles in proper dryer operation.
Good Luck and have a nice dayRating the solution is highly appreciated

Dryer has heat in back but cloths won't dry.

Howdy: Some models have a little fan that blows the hot air into the drum. I do not know what model you have but I would start there. Sorry - Good luck - Doug
