I am working on a computer running windows 7 just installed norton 360. The problem I am having is when you open internet explorer 8 it is putting http: in the address bar twice so it won't allow the homepage to display. I checked Internet options to be sure it was entered correctly in there and it is. The computer has just been restored back to factory settings and norton 360 added. I am going to go over tomorrow and uninstal nortons and see if it stops or if it is a ie8 problem. I made sure the auto complete was turned off to be sure it wasn't what was triggering it. You can go to any other website and it is fine it only does when you open ie8 to the homepage. I tried changing which homepage they were using but no go. The homepage is set to Google. Just wondered if anyone had seen this problem for and could save me some headache.

With IE8 open, Go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced Tab...at the bottom click the Reset button to restore IE to its original default settings. Should work.

Slow internet speed with hp pavilion, windows 8, internet explorer 10

My suggestion to remove both McAfee and Norton, they slow down the PC to a crawl. Also they bring all sorts of toolbars and unwantedness.

The free and light use antivirus is the one built into Windows, or if you are rocking Windows 7, Microsoft security essentials. Another one would be malwarebytes as a second layer of defense.

Then go here http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/kbload.jsp?docurl=step_2007102605434976&selected_nav=1&pvid=
and follow the instructions with some additional steps:
Step 2.1 once you have the Uninstaller, the new installer and the key on your pc disconnect it from the internet.
Step 2.2 run the Uninstaller and accept everything it does.
Step 2.3 do yet another reboot and run a sistem cleaner like CCleaner and the Disk Defragmenter
