I keep getting water beneath my fridge, a repairman showed me once how to clear the ice that builds up in the bottom tray by taking of the back panel bottom part only and clearing the ice build up at the bottom and making sure the water flows through before putting it all back together. Can anyone tell me why it builds up and how do I stop this, it's a pain to have to clear the freezer (good thing I have a second fridge downstairs) and wait for the ice to melt so the water pathway is free from ice.

I have the same problem. There is a build up of ice in the bottom of the freezer even after I defrost i and the fridge leaks water near the front. I checked the ice maker to see if it was iced up and that is not the problem
Same problem...what gives? What is the solution?
I have the same problem. I place paper towels under the icemaker in hopes it was excess water not going into the icemaker.
No moisture from icemaker.
I also placed paper towels below the slots in the back of the freezer, and sure enough the water is coming from behind the slotted panel.
I suspect that inside the back panel (which is removable) is the self-defrosting mechanism with a drain line that is supposed to carry the water off into a tray in the bottom of the freezer where it is continually evaporated when the fridge is runnin.
I will post again if I can confirm my suspicion.

Hello again, Roger here.
I have compiled a PDF file that you can download that helps explain one reason why you have an ice buildup in the bottom of your MZD2766GE* Maytag and suggested steps that you can take to resolve it. Defrosting alone does not resolve the problem.

It resolved my problem, I hope it resolves yours.Although it resolved mine this information is provided as a suggestion only and you assume full responsibility for following the directions. It is for your information with no express or implied warranty.

I followed someone else's suggestion this morning by putting some hot water on the frozen ice in the drip pan. So far it's ok. My question is, where does these water go? Am I flooding something by pouring hot water in the drip pan?
I have the same issue. I see the bottom of the freezed full of ice and water runs from the bottom inside out of the door and onto the wood floors. I have had repair men out numeorus times for this issue but after a few months, same issue again.
Very poor engineering on this frig. It has literally ruined my wood floors because puddles of water would be on the floor in the morning when I get up to go to work. At least once a week this occurs.
