SOURCE: shutter jammed

Did you set the camera to M90 AFTER you installed new batteries? The camera will work without batteries in the B and M90 settings, but when you install new batteries, reset the mirror by turning the dial to M90. If this doesn't correct it, I wouldn't recommend opening the camera - take it to a repair shop.

X300 and x700 no power

These use two of the L44 common button battery. The + sides of the battery (flat) goes towards the body ... the bump goes towards the battery holder. Check the contacts on the body and where the threads (-) contact the body. Not voltage, no work. Assuming you have 4 different batteries, can you check the batteries ? One bad one of two will not allow voltage. I have bought new button batteries that were dead right from the package. Strange two cameras are dead. They have electronic shutters. The LED should light up in the viewfinder when the shutter is slightly pressed.

Chinon 35mm manual focus SLR, Shutter won't work, batteries are new

Hi,

Initially, assuming a power problem, pls try to clean the battery contacts. In some instances, it may be necessary to scrape them clean or bend/stretch so as to provide more pressure to the batteries.

Otherwise, pls post back other indications, observed conditions.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Venta l44 motor won't run less than a yr. old

I own a 3-year old Venta L44 in which the motor stopped turning the wheels inside. It just sat there humming and eventually got hot. I sent an email to the Venta web site asking if they had a recycling program -- they don't. Instead, they replied (after a few days) stating that the motor was covered under the 10-year warranty. They sent me a new motor which was super easy to install. It didn't cost me a thing. It nows works perfectly.

Changing lens

Your Nikon is a SLR which stands for single lens reflex. The reflex part is the way the mirror that lets you look through the lens to frame the picture flips up to let the light go straight to the film. You can change the lens half way through the film roll because the mirror is down while you change the film and blocks light from getting to the film, just as it blocks the light until you push the shutter button. Have fun with your 'new' camera! I use an even older style Nikon FE2. I like my Nikon 55mm macro lens but your newer camera takes autofocus lenses so you'll need advice from someone else for that.
