I would try real hard to get it repair under warranty, they may bend the rule sinc it is only one week over warranty. Right now the 5vdc standby power supply is working. Typical repair for LCD TV is $200 and up plus parts. If they refuse, I would not buy another VIZIO.

Why does my 50in vizio cuts off by itself

Please tell me that you didn't REALLY buy a REFURBISHED TV!?!?!?! And a Vizio to boot! The problem with refurbished units is that they rarely get properly tested. Many are returned with intermittent problems that do not show up at the refurbishing center, and thus they are resold with the same defect present. Vizio used to be the YUGO of the TV market. They have gained some credibility, but they still lag far behind the competition for reliability. What you are probably experiencing is a power supply problem, which is the most common problem with flat panel TVs, and a seemingly inevitable problem among Vizios.....usually a week or two after the warranty expires. I hope that you got some kind of warranty with the refurb....many are only 90 days which basically says - good luck sucker!

Solutions (2) Best Solution That little fella is only turned off by unplugging it. If all those little lights in America could be turned off we could do with one less nuclear power plant. If unplugging it is not an option, my wife's solution is to cover it with a piece of black tape.

remove all screws on the back of the tv, carefully pull off back cover. you will see two circuit boards one on the left (Power) and one on the right (Video) on the Video board there is a small plug on the right side with a yellow, white and red wire going into a small white connector. the red wire is what controls the orange light on the front. now that the plug is pulled turn it over and you should see a small white plastic piece that holds each metal connector on the end of the wires in. pry this piece of plastic up for the red wire and pull at the same time, the wire will come out of the connector. now tape the metal connector with electrical tape and tuck it behind something or tape it to the chassis. plug your connector back in. put the rear cover back on. now your tv will only show the vizio logo in white when you have the power on. If you wish to disable the logo for both orange and white just disconnect the white plug completely.

Tv black out on me and it stop working. No red power light.

My friend bought a Poloroid tv, similiar to yours. The power supply went bad 2 weeks after warranty expired; he had to pay to have a whole new power supply installed - roughly $250. Two weeks later my Toshiba (same age) won't turn on - no lights or anything. Same thing - power supply. Sounds like yours is in the same category. Hopefully you bought the extended warranty.

Vizio 47" Costco hdtv has red floating areas!

After posting this problem we did call Vizio. They sent out a repairman (had to wait over a week) who fixed it by: Replacing the LVDS cable and the main board. (Just like somebody on this blog wrote somewhere!) We also had just previously called our cable company who came out (also free) and checked our system only to find the cable running around the house to the tv needed replacing as it was sending zillions of errors. The red flowing problem (called "red pixilation") was due to the Vizio LVDS cable and main board being faulty from the factory.
Just want you out there in web land to know how to get your similar problem fixed!

No picture but sound

do any lights come on with the TV?, like white vizio or orange vizio light. sounds like a problem with the power board. some vizio parts have lifetime warranties so contact vizio support and report your problem. if it is covered the service call is free. there is a green led light on the power board that should come on, if it is not on, you may have a bad power board. to see this light on the power board, turn off the lights in the room and view the tv from the back cover, power board is 3/4 way toward top in the middle of the tv

Hello bhudson153, Yes most certainly tv's should last longer than a year. What i would suggest is testing your outlet too see if it is putting out and test the tv in another room to see if thats that problem. If you still are having difficulties please post again.
Please post what you do and how you did it I look forward to your posts
