That error is not related to the maintenance kit.
That code has to do with the print head tilt.
There are 3 things that usually cause that.
Most of the time it is the print head block, which if you remove the left side cover, (looking from the front) it is a stainless steel block located about mid way back on the machine, toward the bottom. It is about 1 inch square, and ink leaks into it and makes it very sticky, The print head then can not pivot betwen the home and print position.
The second most likely problem is the wiper blade is stuck to the print head. You can try turning it off and on a few more times, but if the wiper is tacked tightly, you will have to remove both side covers, and the ink loader, and gently pry the blade off the print head.
Thirdly are the cables that attach to the print head are restricting the free movement of the print head.
None of these are real difficult to do, Just take time and patience.
If you want more procedures etc. let me know. This is normally a pretty easy fix.
Yep.
You want to obviously unplug the machine, then remove the scanner document feed . To do that you have to disconnect the cable to the right side of the machine next to the power plug.
On the back behind the scanner there are 2 tabs you need to depress to slide that scanner assembly off. Set it aside.
You may as well remove both the right and left side covers. There is just one screw on back of each cover, you then lift both covers up and out. Now so that you do not have a heart attack, the front is held together by the upper front cover, It will release and normally "pop" when it releases. Remove both the right and left cover, front cover and set aside.
Now looking from the front of the machine, Go to the left side. About mid way back and toward the bottom of the frame you will see a stainless steel block about 1 inch square. It has a spring assembly holding it in. You just pull back , then latch that spring and bracket up and to the left about an inch or two. There is a location it will snap into for repair. Look at that block, you will most likely see it has a lot of yellow ink in it, It may be difficult to
remove, may require a pair of channel locks to remove it, if there is a lot of ink in it it can take some work to get it out, but just be persistant. If it is really impacted with ink, soak it in some hot water to soften up the ink and make it easier to clean. clean the print head shaft also so you don't just re contaminate it. Also remove the maintenance kit and tray and remove as much of the excess ink as you can.
If that is not the problem, Then remove the ink loader, where the ink sticks are inserted into the machine, It requires removing a couple more screws holding the small upper white cover on back. Then there are tabs holding the ink loader in place, just release that , remove the 2 connectors on the ink loader. Once the ink loader is off, you have exposed the print head, Drum area. Look between the drum and print head to see if the cleaning blade assembly is stuck there. and gently remove it from the print head. Do this only if the block is NOT contaminated.
The other thing to check while in that area are the cables that are attached to the print head. make sure they have enough play in them.
I suspect strongly that the stainless steel print block is contaminated. What normally causes that to get ink in it, is the machine is not sitting level. When you are done, take a level and open the document feeder, place the level on the glass and make certain the machine is level both front to back and side to side to avoid spilling of ink. Also never move that machine hot. Always let is set at least a half an hour before moving it from location to location..
Sorry for the delay in response, I was out of the office.
Good luck and let me know.
