Check to see if the drain line is clogged .you have to take the covet off the freezer to get to the drain .
If it's cover in ice pour hot water down to make sure it is clear .
Next you could have a bad defrost time .
Locate your timer and change it out

SOURCE: Freezer is producing"snow" and freezer burning everything

AFTER A DEFROST,HAVE A GOOD LOOK AT THE DOOR RUBBER. IT MUST BE 100% SEALED FOR A FREEZER. (SHOULD ALSO HEAR A SLIGHT VACUME WHEN DOOR IS SHUT WHEN UP NTO TEMP).ALSO MAKE SURE MOTOR IS SWITCHING OFF AT +/- 20C (TEMP).IF ALLOWED TO RUN CONTINUOUSLY TEMP WILL PULL DOWN TO CREATE EXCESS FROST.

SOURCE: Ice & water dripping in refrigerator

hi , roger here i am a maintenance tech for an apartment complex that just happens to have whirlpool appliances. the way i see it is the most likely problem you have is a clogged drain. if you push the refrigerator out where you can access the back of it you will see a plastic hose that runs from about the middle of the fridge down to the bottom and then dumps into a pan that sits on the top of the compresser. the easiest thing to do is to remove the hose from the pan and blow hard through it or hook an air nozzle from a compresser and blow through it . it should take care of it. also try to avoid turning the fridge up on its max settings. hope this helps.

SOURCE: freezer cold but not fridge

too much ice bulid up will stop enough cold air being blown into the fridge.Try turning it off letting all ice melt then turn it back on again and set thermostat at a lower temp. There may be ice you can't see.

SOURCE: water in bottom of fridge

Thanks to all who spent money or shared their experience to have somebody do this repair, and I really mean it.
I have a Whirlpool TopLoad Fridge (not a side by side).
Things you'll need
30 minutes
Small socket for cardboard panel on lower back and panel inside freezer
Bicycle Pump
4 Towels
Hair Dryer

1. Take everything out of freezer
2. Turn dials off in fridge for both compartments
3. Pull fridge out so you can get behind it and unplug it
4. Be vigilant of ice maker line if installed
5. Pull cardboard panel off on back
On the left side you should see the back of the skinny drip pan and a small line. That line goes from the freezer and is most likely clogged.
6. Blow dry the back of the freezer enough so the ice is thawed at the bottom of the back panel.
7. Remove the two screws on the back panel. You may just be able to pull it toward you enough to get behind it. You'll see the coils and fan, and underneath these you may see some ice sheets and there should be a hole. That is the drain line that is clogged. I heated up some water and poured it over the drain to thaw the line. You may want to remove the crisper drawers and put some towels down there to catch the overflow. Once the ice is thawed enough at the drain. Go to the back of the fridge and place the end of the bicycle pump at the bottom of the drain hose. Apply pressure to get a good seal but keep pumping. You may have to go back and forth between pumping and thawing, but you'll know it is clear when you hear air going into the freezer and then the wonderful moment when water drips into the drip pan as advertised!

Keep those fridges less full so that the door stays sealed and keep the seal clean and also keep your doors from having too much stuff so the weight of the door doesn't pull away.

Okay, put it back together, turn everything on and be careful of your cord and lines when pushing the fridge back. Thank the Lord ours has wheels and man,was it cruddy underneath. Vacuum those coils underneath the fridge too for proper air circulation.

Blessings to you!

Why is ice forming in freezer

Ice layer inside freezer box floor - Defrost drain line clogged.

Frost or ice on freezer box top - Room air leaking into the fridge from door seals.

Frost on the Freezer box back wall means unit is not defrosting properly.

Whirlpool ffw400wh cools nicely for 3 days then form ice on the freezer & does not cool at the fridge compartment

Sounds like your defrost timer is not functioning , it will need to be replaced. Some times the frost free fan can also cause this but I think it will be the defrost timer.
Located under the fridge usually on one of the rear corners.
Pit has like I white round dial on it .

Fridge portion doesn't get cold

The defrost circuit is not working, there are usually 3 things that normally go bad, defrost timer, defrost heater, and thermal switch. Would have serviceman check it out as cooling fins on coils will cut you like a razor.

If there is no cooling at all on the fridge section but the freezer works then it is confirmed that the compressor and gas pressure is OK. Now shut off the fridge and leave it powered off while you clean and check the evaporator for frost. If frost is seen it is a good indication as the compressor is working with sufficient gas within.
Now after about 6 hours plug in the fridge to start. Observe cooling to happen in about one hour and ice to from under three hours.
Earlier make sure that the thermostat was set to normal mode for freezer and fridge.
However if ice forms in the freezer then observe the fridge for about 24 hours for cooling to continue and the fridge to cut off . If not the auto defrost timer, or the thermostat must be checked. Frost formation without defrosting could block the air flow and so shut the air passage to the fridge. Also the blower fan must work and if this is not working then the fan can be faulty. Also a fault on the control unit is a suspect to non functioning of any one of these components.
If defrost timer works but frost keeps forming check while the compressor shuts if the heaters are working, check continuity of the heaters.
So try this test using a multi-meter on the defrost timer and the thermostat and make your observations so that we come to the solution.

Forming ice in the freezer vent going to bottom

It could also be your defrost heater. Look in side your fridge at the adjustment knob. It is in a box attached to the ceiling of your fridge. Look under this and you should see a plastic screw. Turn this screw until the motor cuts off. Leave it off for about 30 minutes. If motor turns back on then the defrost timer is working. The defrost heater is in the back panel of the freezer. The defrost heater looks like a long tube that runs under the freezer coils and half way up both sides. If after turning the screw on the defrost timer and the fridge doesn't turn back on then it is the defrost timer. The time is inside the box the adjustment knob is on.

This could be a bad thermostat. If your thermostat never closes it's swith then the defrost element never comes on and you get the problem you are having. Easy fix. Do you know where your timer is and can you retate it?

Ice & water dripping in refrigerator

Seems that you now have to little gas in the fridge.Somewhere on your apparatus there should be a factory tag where it should be info on amount of gas, prod date etc and also which type of gas to fill.
Other thing as fan not running properly, door gaskets leaking can lead to Ice build up.
High humidity and water all over inside fridge.Gas filling procedure.Make vacum(vacumpump)Fill in correct weight (grams or oz)of gas.Anyhow when you must fill gas there is usually a leak in your system and to find that i use liquid nitrogen. For this serviceman is the best option.

Ice forming in freezer refrigerator not getting cold

Replace your heater and thermostat behind the back wall of the freezer. the air will not flow from the freezer to the fridge because of all the forming ice. Also replace the defrost timer. take your model number into a local parts store and they can get you the parts. This is very common!!!!! But pretty easy to do.
