Hi, the points gap is 14 to 16 Thou. Inlet valves 4 thou, exhaust valves 6 thou. I dont know the settings in metric, so using a set of imperial feeler gauges, that measure in thousands of an inch.
An easy tip for setting the points, is use the thickness of a standard cardboard, Business Card, it is the correct thickness for your points gap.

Try to keep the point gap at .014".. this can effect the timing.
.004" = .1mm
.006" = .15mm
Set valves on cold engine!

point 1.3 mm is the valve gap but most put it to 1.4mm as they tend to tighten up over time.

How do i adjust timing chain on a yamaha 650 seca?

On the back of the cylinders is the cam chain tensioner. Find the timing marks for the motor and set the motor to top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke for the #1 cylinder. Piston up, both valves loose (not pressing on valves). Now loosen the bolt on top off the tensioner and tighten it back up. You have just adjusted your cam chain tensioner.

I have a 1976 Suzuki GT 750 LeMans that I am restoring, I'm having trouble location a manual and need to know what to gap the points and valves at. I have found a manual finally but can't wait for it to...

just to get it started?? i would set the points at half the plug gap, about 14 to 17 thou, intake valves at 14 and exhaust at 17, these are rough figures, once the engine is hot if the valves are noisy, wait for engine to cool and reduce gap 1 or 2 thou and try again, these are just numbers i would use when in need, good luck

Yamaha 4 stroke golf cart back fires all the time..Replaced coils and the carby but no change

Very important... valves get out of adjustment and are easy to set. This is where I would start FOR SURE. Check out www.buggiesgonewild.com and an example of how to do it on EZ GO 295 http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/ezgo-gas-tech/1196-ezgo-295-350-engine-valve-adjustment.html

Is the camshafts timing correct? I assume your carbs are cleaned and adjusted properly.

Setting carbs and setting valves

around that year , yamaha used small disks(no screw adjustment) for valve adjustments, so you measured the free play and bought new ones according to the gap.best set up is just a few 0.001" of an inch at tdc
