PC freezing up

I can view a video on windows media player and then it just freezes up and won't do anything. I have installed a new hard drive and I have 2 gigs of ram. I'm wondering if the NVIDIA GeForce 6800 XT is not quit enough to view videos and edit the one that I have made with my new hard drive camera. Can you suggest a economical card that will do what I would like to do?

Dimension 3000 keeps freezing

Sounds to me like the hard drive might be going bad. Bad sectors on the hard drive can cause the freezing to happen.

If you have a spare known working hard drive, put that one into the system and then install windows xp on it and see what happens.

If that doesn't do it then try each memory stick one at a time in each slot one at a time and see if the freezing goes away. If it does then you know its a memory stick problem.

Also unseat and reseat the CPU into the slot and make sure there is not dust or dirt in the socket that the CPU sits in.

After all of this if you still have freeze up problems then the motherboard is bad.

Screen fades to white, everything freezes, then returns to normal

My first thought is a video inverter.

Install an external monitor and see if the problem persists.

If it doesn't then it is the LCD on the laptop.

Good luck

Unable to put in music

You probably have your Windows Media Player set up to auto-sync - since this player is smaller than your total music collection, it is too much for both WMP and the Sansa. Disable auto-sync and you should be fine. Windows Media Player 10 is fine. Windows Media Player 11 works also.

Media player

if it is the only process that freezes up you should re-install your "ripping" software. If the whole computer freezes up you need more ram or need to free up some memory. You may have too much going on when ripping.
