    Thanks,
I switched off and restarted - to go through the process again - and everything seems OK. Thanks for help. I still don't know why the message came up, it would be natural to assume the waste tank is full, if message reads 'waste tank is full'. Silly me. I just hope I don't get an overflow.
    Regards
    Phil

The steps for your model are as follows:

Enter SERVICE MODE -- By pressing Menu, Copy, Scan, Copy, Copy

        Select TEST MODE.

Select 8 PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE.

        Select 3. [EEPROM CLEAR].

        Select 0. [INK COUNT].

        Press the Set key.

Press the Stop/Reset key (returning to the state of 3), and then press the ON/OFF key.

I'm looking everywhere, but I can't find a picture of your printer's control panel so I can look for the corresponding key!

On HP printers, the "Set" key is a green key with a check mark on it.

Perhaps your Canon has a similar key that is used to "enter" whatever menu item is selected?

How to solve error 6C10

You cannot solve it by yourself.
This error means, that the wast ink absorber is full and needs to be replaced. When a new waste ink absorber has been installed, the device needs a reset. This can only be done by Canon service.

Canon MPC 190 Imageglass printer

Hi, taken from here: http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/printer/27470

1. Press MENU COPY SCAN COPY COPY

2. This will take you to TEST MODE

3. Use the + key to take you through to PRINTER TEST (option 8)(if you go past, either keep keying the +, or you can use the - to take you back)

4. Ensure that it shows 8-3 on the screen. This is EEPROM CLEAR

5. Press OK

6. It will show 0 INK COUNT

7. Press OK

8. Press the STOP/RESET button

9. Press the ON/OFF button

10. The printer won't turn off, but will "reset" itself (or something).

I'm not sure what this does, but it gets rid of the "WASTE INK NEAR FULL" message and you should be able to print again with no problem.
