Loud Rubbing noise from my Maytag Performa Dryer

From my understanding your Frigidaire dryer is making a loud noise as it continues to go through the cycles. It could be an issue within the drum not properly being balanced and the load is now rubbing against the wall of your dryer.

It is also possible that the belt is not securing the dryer and it is not properly spinning. I would suggest seeking assistance from a professional to come out and properly diagnose your appliance to avoidany unnecessary part purchases. -Matt

There are 2 wheels in the rear that the drum rotates on - one could be binding. The tensioner has a wheel, check it for rotation. Belt slipping? Check motor for operation - check that plastic blower isn't rubbing in its box. Dryers are easy to disassemble - check YouTube for procedure.

My Maytag Performa gas clothes dryer makes a scratching noise for the first few minutes when turned on, then it goes away.

That model of neptune dryer had a problem with the blower housings cracking. When the housing cracks, it binds forward into the blower wheel making a loud "rumble" noise and vibration. If you open the door and manually turn the drum and you hear a rubbing noise and feel alot of resistance, then you have a cracked blower housing and need to replace it. It is not an easy job to replace, so if your not familiar with dryers, you should have a technician replace it. Let me know if you have any further questions. shane

Your drum may be out of round. The drum belt on the outside of the drum may be rubbing against the cabinet. When the cabinet heats up, the side walls of the cabinet may be bowing inward, thus making contact with the belt on the drum. This would explain why it is intermittant. When the heater turns off, the cabinet cools and the sides bow back out.
