Hitachi 53SDX89B 53" Rear Projection Television Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jul 19, 2010

I have a hitachi 53SDX89B model rear projection. I was recently trying to have it connected to ATT Uverse TV. Every time the tech hooked the DVR receiver to one of the inputs, it knocked out the service. We tried two different receivers, but it was the same on both. The problem occurred a few seconds after the TV is turned in, no matter which input is used. The Tech said there was power back feeding out of the inputs. Can this board be replaced and what is the PN? Does any of this make sense?

I don't understand how putting the isolation transformer on the incoming line will affect the A/C leakage on the video inputs.

All inputs of the tv's are zero voltage I think the problem must be on the DVR reciever because you already try two units and same thing happens.the tech must see the compatibility of the TV and the reciever there must be a problem in there...

Hi,
Hitachi 53SDX89B is September 1999 model as its mentioned on its service manual that I have.
Since tv is too old so I'm afraid, no spare boards or parts would be available any more to fix its AC leaky current issue that damaging ATT U-verse service. (power back feeding out, we call it AC leakage).
There is one solution for that problem, buy Isolation Transformer and plug your tv in it, that will cure AC leakage from your tv and wont hurt any thing attached/ connected with this tv. Your tv consume 245 Watt power while working so 500 Watt isolation transformer would be good enough to keep turn On tv for hours/ days.
Below is an image of basic isolation transformer and click HERE to get required 500W isolation transformer.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

My Hitachi 53SDX89B is showing double. It has a bow effect going on that shows red and green

It is a convergence problem (see attached photos) and total parts cost if you can do it yourself will be under 25 dollars--I know where to buy the parts at the best cost and how to do the repair.

Let me know if I can assist you with a comment here and if this information helped, rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

CONVERGENCE

Do not adjust any knobs as instucted in the previous thread if you TV have a convergence problem. Doing so will only make things worse. The blog does however show you how to fix other common problems with these sets.

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.
