My 20 g ipod wont turn on and it has a picture of a battery with a lightning bolt

You did not post the make and model but the lightning bolt means it is charging the flash, It could be that there are bad components in the flash that wont allow it to charge.

If you iPod is charging and is off the screen will display a battery with a lightning bolt. To turn the iPod on simple make sure the hold switch is set so you cannot see the red and press any button.

If you try a different power cord and still get the low battery symbol (plug and lightning bolt) after leaving it sitting for a while, then you may need a new battery. After replacing the battery, if you still need to, you should be able to restore your ipod without a problem. Hope this helps!

The lightning bolt is the flash indicator. Are your batteries full? Try turning the flash off and fire off a couple of shots....do they work?

Always unplug your Ipod using the Eject option in itunes or safely remove hardware option which appears on the right side of the taskbar.

The flashing lightning bolt is your camera telling you it's trying to charge the flash but can't get enough power from the battery. Is the battery old...been charged many times...neglected and left to completely discharge? Any of these things can reduce the capacity of a battery.

not all phones do that, but generally it comes on when youre charging the phone

call 1800-apple and the will hook it to the cumputer and they will help you

Try this which should reset your ipod: First, toggle your hold switch back and forward and put it back to the off position. Then press and hold the menu button and the center button simultaneously for about six seconds and the screen should go blank and the apple logo should appear. After that it should work.

Try resetting the iPod buy holding the home button and the shut off button on top at the same time, hold till unit shows it reset
