Bought Olympus VN-6200 PC digital voice recorder .Was working OK.After I changed the battery recently when I tried to record I am Unable to record .Says "input blocked". How do I get it to record.
I was using my voice Digital Recorder VN-6200PC. I was recording a my lesson when the screen shows formatting, I immediately took out the battery as not to lose any data, because I was taping and it began to format and I lose the data I was recording. So this time I remove the battery. However when I put back the battery it began to say imput blocked. Please help?
I got this same message on my VN7000PC that I got in LIDL. The message
appeared when I tried to record. I could not get it to go away. At the
time I just happened to have 5 files in Folder A with lock on. I tried
to remove the file locks. I got the same message "Input Blocked". That
was a clue. Maybe it had something to do with the internal 1GB drive. I
formatted the drive. The message disappeared and now I can record again.
I can't reformat because it says the drive is "write protected". I can't seem to do anything because of the "input blocked" message.I can't reformat because it says the drive is "write protected". I can't seem to do anything because of the "input blocked" message.

The Olympus VN-6000 will likely not have a PC/Mac USB connector cable, so, if you want to transfer files to your computer you would be better off looking at the Olympus VN-6200PC.
take out the batteries , push the reset button, then put batteries back and try again.
If still not working properly , then it probably should go back to Olympus, if you bought it a few years ago , its probably out of warranty.
You can buy a newer model like the vn-6200-pc , which has way more memory and more features for much much less then it will cost to repair the vn-100 or vn-2000 , f
You're right..This happens often when one changes the battery. Here's what to do :
The ERR message can only be corrected by holding in the DISP/MENU and STOP buttons for two seconds, which results in ALL the material on the recorder being erased. It will say (FOR) for a few minutes while it is erasing everything, then will work again. Solution found at http://www.amazon.co.uk/Olympus-VN-2100-Digital-Recorder-microphone/dp/B000V3NTEU
First things first: DO NOT take any more videos or audio with the recorder that you want to recover files from in case you may quite possibly ruin your chances of voice memo file recovery.
Then connect your recorder to another PC with a recovery program installed. Photo Recovery Software (also recover Voice memos, audio and video files) is right what you need to use if you are running Windows. If you are Mac OS X users, turn to Data Recovery for Mac.
But you should remember - the more you use your recorder, the less likely you may be able to recover the deleted files back! So STOP using the device ASAP. Good Luck!
when the recorder is plugged into the pc, it will flash pc and be powered by the pc... but when the recorder is not plugged in, then the batteries are needed to power on
Unfortunately because the device has flash memory the voice files once deleted are unable to be retrieved. You may try to google search for companies that specialize in flash memory recovery but it is a very expensive process.
Purchased an Olympus VN-4100PV digital voice recorder a couple of months ago at Radioshack. (no software came with it)
Recently purchased new PC with Vista 64-bit. Recorder will not work.
Called Olympus today, 12-3-08 and was told no driver is going to be
issued to remedy this situation, thus rendering my device useless.
Thanks for nothing Olympus product support.
