Pick up this tv but when i got it home it comes on for 1-2 mins then a little pop and its off can be turned back on with 2 pushes on the power button off again in1-2 mins thanks for any help
Is this a brand new tv?
The pop sound I would think is a lamp but does it happen each time or just the first time.
Please let me know so I can further figure this out.
Thank you for using Fixya
Alright then it probably is the CRTs which will need to be replaced. Possibly some fluid leaked onto them, please let me know if you need any more help but basically if you replace them, it should be good to go.
so did you leave unplugged while you were gone to try a hard reset?
Even if you did that, it may only be temporary and then you should check the CRTs if everything works now but the problem comes up again.
Please keep me updated, thanks
Please don't forget to rate this solution as that is one of the biggest aspects of all this website works

Please try a hard reset
Try to unplug the power cable first
leave it turned off and then try doing a flea power by not connecting the power source to the tv and then try to turn on by pushing the power button by holding it for a atleast 40 seconds this will release the static power from the system.
then turn it back on and tell me the status.
If you have sound and no picture you either do not have any high
voltage, the CRT emitters are not powering up or there is no video
drive to the crts. A long shot would be the brightness is turned down
but unlikely. The most likely problem is no high voltage. Odds are the
Horizontal Output Transistor is open. This is easy to check with a vom
if you are familiar with TVs. If not have a professional do it. TVs are
dangerous and complicated. If the HOT is open it will need to be
replaced along with either/and the flyback and HV divider block. If the
Horizontal Output is ok the problem could be just about anywhere. First
you need to make sure that all necessary voltages are present and
correct. After that you need to determine which circuit or section is
not working. At this point the sound is the only thing you know works.
Good Luck

OK got home late today remove cover front and back saw no obvios hot spots . so i held the on button without power for a while then powered it up and turn it on with covers still open . left it on approx 1 hr no problem turn it off and back on no problems . Not sure if the results are from sitting ,open covers (less heat) or flea power . will test tomarrow for longer before closing back up and keep you posted
