You can purchase even genuine Electrolux or Aerus Electrolux motors on E-Bay, but there's no surety of what you will receive.
Contact your nearest Aerus dealership. They used to install the motor at no extra charge.

SOURCE: Repair manual for Electrolux EPIC 6500 SR

I don't have a manual for these but the trickiest thing about these units is taking them apart. If you have an Aerus/Electrolux dealer near you, it's not a bad investment to have them install the motor for you. You would probably receive a warranty with the work, and the things a long time. Great return on investment. But if you are determined to do it yourself, open the front of the canister and remove the bag. As you are looking at the front of the unit, there are two vinyl coverd strips that run the length of the unit. Pull forward on these strips and then pull out so that the vinyl seperates from the plastic underneath. Now grab the plastic strip with a pair of needle nose pliers and pull towards the front of the canister. These can be tough if the machine has never been opened up before, but pull as hard as you need to, to slide the strip out. Once both strips are out, turn the machine over, pull out on the sides of the bottom of the unit, and lift up. The bottom should come of relatively easily, and eveything will be exposed. Good Luck!!

Cord will not retract on epic 6500 sr

Try tipping it on its end,or nearly so. Then tug gently and release until it retracts. This has worked for me nearly every time I'd tried on various Electrolux vacuums.
If this doesn't work, the vacuum needs to be taken to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store for repairs.

Where can I get motor brushes for an Epic 6500 SR

You can get these brushes at and AERUS ELECTROLUX repair center. However be aware this is a hi rpm motor.
Unlike lower output, heavy duty motrs from 40 years ago, BRUSHES CAN SELDOM BE REPLACED ON THEIR OWN. IF YOU CAN ACTUALLY GET ALL THE WAY IN AND OUT OF THIS VAC , THEN YOU ARE CAPABLE OF THE MOTOR WORK AS WELL.
Once the motor is removed from its housing be sure to inspect the commutator surface for gapping between the segments, the lines must be parallel nor should the com show apple core shaped wear. Either one will negate new brushes.
New brushes are best seated with a fine abrasive commutator stone and run in at half speed & half voltage to allow them to gradually seat, especially on a hi RPM motor.
Post back if you need help. Good effort !!!!
