I'm having the same problem and have found the manual to troubleshoot at Curtis's site - http://www.curtisint.com/web/products.asp?brand=CURTIS&subCat=HOMESYSMJR&catName=DVD%20HOME%20SYSTEMS

Xbox360 not hooking up to Curtis DVD5091 surround sound through optical cable

try running the optical cable from your dvd directly to your tv and then select whichever input (eg HDMI 1/2 etc) you use to play the xbox on..In theory this setup should allow any audio playing on the tv to go through the surround sound..hope it works

I am using a Curtis DVD 6091 and a Toshiba Regza TV. I have wired it correctly -- i think -- but i get a picture and no sound when input is set to video 1. If I move the input to HDMI 1, I get audio but no...

1) you must test the wires.
2) you must shure if the wiring method is o.k
3) check according with your owner manual schematic connection
4) please be shure that you are connecting in the apropiate way.
God bless you

Is it possible to hook our dvd/surround sound component to the tv so that when you turn the volume of the tv up/down it works the panasonic

The sound level from the TV Line Out is fixed, so you must control the volume from the surround sound component unit.
