I had the same problem for more than one year, i hated it and promised never buying gateway again... well yesterday i asked at the store, and the guy told me: the touch screen in these things dont work the same as an ipad, instead of the screen "feeling" your touch it has detectors on the border of the screen that send a signal of the position of your touch... long story short... bought canned air and blow the grooves around the screen, lots of dust in there... and it is working like the first day!

Try contacting your service provider!!!!

- if doesn.t work ,... change the touch screen

If iPod touch won't turn on, or if the display freezes or doesn't respond

• iPod touch may need charging. See "Charging the Battery" in the iPod touch Features Guide.
• Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you were using quits.
• If that doesn't work, turn off iPod touch and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPod touch for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
• If that doesn't work, reset iPod touch. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If iPod touch continues to freeze or not respond after you reset it

• Reset iPod touch settings. From the Home screen choose Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. All your preferences are reset, but your data and media are left untouched.
• If that doesn't work, erase all content on iPod touch. From the Home screen choose Settings > General > Reset > "Erase All Content and Settings." All your preferences are reset, and all your data and media are removed from iPod touch.

To reset the iPhone or iPod Touch, press and hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button simultaneously at the same time for at least ten seconds, then the LCD display will clear and the Apple logo appears on the black background. When Apple logo appears, reset is done.

recalibrate the touch screen

I have the same problem. But i had solved it. I use a lighter to burn on my viewty's touch screen, and it is working properly again within 30 secs. And ofcourse, do not burn the touch screen without a screen protector. Hope this solution would help.

I think a wire connecting LCD screen with the cam is disconnected. Plz do not attempt to rectify the problem urself. Must see sony workshop.
