Xbox360:most of the time, having just inserted the game disk, I get a message that says open trey or play dvd.
This sounds like your lenses is getting dusty. Try buying a lenses cleaning disk and see if that helps. They are usually at local stores for only $10-$15. Here's a few examples.
If it stops working all together, and the lenses cleaning disk doesn't help, then you either have to send it to Microsoft to get it repaired, or get the lenses itself replaced by doing it yourself or a third part company.

Thank you for responding. I have used a brand new disk cleaner several times I tried cleanning the lens with alcohol also,without taking it apart though so Im not sure what got cleaned actually. when my ps2 would stop working it was easy to take apart and clean but 360 I havent done is there any trick to get them open ?And where can I find one of those lens' at ? Thanks again.
I personally have never taken apart a Xbox 360, but I found a few guides online. 1st guide. 2nd guide. Looks like all you need is a screwdriver. As for the lenses you can get them at a lot of different places online, like amazon and such. Check that here.

Push a paper clip into 1 of these holes in your 360. It will pop the tray out. Grab the tray pull it out all the way. Put a game in, leave it open! Then turn your 360 on see if it boots the game.205 views
