Of course the dishwasher is just over 1 year old and I am hearing something I have either never heard before or, if I did, it wasn't this loud. While the dishwasher is draining (I know because I am hearing water in my garbage disposal) I hear a rather loud humming/vibrating sound. This happens a few times during the normal cycle as well as the Eco wash cycle. The dishes are coming out clean, dry and there is no water left on the bottom of the unit when I open the door. I am concerned because I was surprised at how quiet the dishwasher was when we first got it. It even boasts about being quieter than other dishwashers. Any suggestions or ideas as to why? My husband took off the bottom and ran a cycle, the noise sounds like it is coming from the pump assembly( which is not hitting the floor). What do you think it could be? What could we check next? This is the loudest noise coming from the dishwasher during a cycle, is that common? Sharon
Okay...based on the model number, this is a Frigidaire manufactured dishwasher. If you go to searspartsdirect.com and type in the your model number in the Search menu, you will find a useful illustration under the "Motor and Pump" heading. The drain pump is listed as item #60 in the drawing. Before you go through any major dis-assembly, check to make sure the pump is securely in place and not loose. Sometimes the pump comes loose from the mounting bracket and vibrates. Also, sure nothing is laying against it causing vibration noises (I've seen this before). If the solution is not that simple, remove the spray arm assembly inside the dishwasher and inspect all the debris traps under the spray arm assembly. The wash pump and drain pump sumps are located here. Check to make sure there's nothing obstructing the input to the drain pump. Lastly, if all else fails, remove the drain pump and inspect the impeller. If the you've inspected everything and still have the noise problem, replace the drain pump. The motor could possible be failing. The part number on the Sears website is 154580301 and costs about $40. Repairclinic.com has the same part listed as item #1257094 for $37.50 if you wish to do some comparable pricing.
I hope this helps you. If you need further assistance, please post back and let me know.
PS Even the quietest of all dishwashers will make some noise. However, if it has gotten to the point where you can hear it in the next room, you probably need to inspect to find the source of the problem. This is not true with all dishwasher manufacturers, but in many cases, the only difference between your "Quiet-Pack" line and regular low-end models is added insulation behind the door and lower panel to help quieten noise.

The drain hose under the sink needs to be tied up,above the point where it enters the drain pipe or disposal, water is feeding back into the unit, run the disposal more often also this helps prevent this from happening.

No, he did not pull the pump, he just made sure it wasn't resting on the floor and vibrating. The model # is PLD4375RFCO. It was purchased February 2007 and I started to hear the noise in March of this year. I really appreciate your help.
i have the same one and for some reason it just stopped working properly. i put the dishes in there and I didn't hear any water running like I did before. When it was done I opened it up and the dishwashing tablet was laying in the bottom of the dishwasher.
we are experiencing a similar problem with a 6 year old 7910. Quiet until today.Suddenly making a horrendous vibration humming sound periodically while filling and changing cycle. otherwise ok.
Did your husband pull the pump and check for obstructions? It is common for debris such as toothpicks, popcorn kernels and chicken bones to get caught in the drain pump impeller, drain sump, or chopper assembly (if your dishwasher is equipped). Please post back with your model number, so I can be sure.
