If it is USB CD_Drive you can plug it in a USB port of the computer. You may have to install drivers, but usually Windows Update can download them from the Internet.
Start Menu, Computer, right click DVD rom, scroll down, click eject. If the DVD in the DVD rom is broken,damaged, remove Drive, disassemble. Try to open the front panel DVD rom door and push the button on the DVD rom drive.
Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question /exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click to update driver
you might have physicall unplug the dvd drive from your computer restart the plug it back in this should activate the found new hardware wizard
Hi, For that problem, Try first replace that internal DVD-rom drive other good internal DVD-rom drive. if not Also Detected or recognize. Try this second solution. insertexternal USB type DVD-ROM. if not recognize also, Your operating system Have internal software device data corrupted. You need to reinstall operating System like windows xp, windows 7 (OS) etc.. to fix data Corrupted of operating system device for hardware software. Please see sample external DVD-rom USB type.

HI,INOUYE56, THE CD RW/DVD ROM DOES NOT WORK BECAUSE ,IT MAY BE THE OPTICAL LANCE OF DVD ROM HAS BEEN DEFFECTED.FIRST YOU SHOULD PUT ANOTHER DVD DISK HICH ONE WORKS WELL IN ANOTHER PC.WHEN IT ALSO DOES NOT WORK PLEASE CLEANE THE DVD LANCE.IF IT WORK SAME AS BEFORE,YOU MUST CHANGE BECAUSE NEW VERSON DVD CD CAN NOT WORK IN OLD DVD ROM.IT IS THE SOFTWARE PROBLEM.
1. Go to Hardware Profile and Remove your Asus ROM profile. 2. Shutdown your Machine - 3. Remove the Asus ROM from your Sata Connector. 4. Turn your Computer ON without that ROM 5. Shutdown it again, and Reconnect your ROM to those Sata connectors 6. Comment back here if still not working. :)

i cant get you. cd/dvd is not working or cd/dvd rom drive is not working ? To work cd/dvd rom drive properly, Make sure the Jumper settings of the drive is set to slave or else remove all the jumpers from the cd/dvd rom drive, it automatically sets to slave. Check the power cable and the FRC(flat ribbon cable) of the cd/dvd rom drive. Hopefully it should work. Thank you.
