Normally most internal LAN addressing is carried out by a DHCP server which issues IP addresses to anything that is connected to the network.
IE your computer. most switches are set to obtain an IP address from them as a default. to find the IP address of youe switch you need to look at your DHCP server ( possibly your router/modem) and see what addresses have been issued. Once you have found the address it is a simple task to open your internet browser and type in the ip address of your switch. once there you should be able to configure your switch as per your requirements.

D'Link DES-1016A

assign them an IP address each, making sure the addresses are all different and consecutive, make sure the subnet mask is the same on all machines, the switch will work right out of the box.

My D-Link DES-1024D can't assign ip addresses to client computer automatically anymore. how will i resolve it?

You switch does not provide DHCP services (assigning of IP Addresses). That is done by either your router or a server on your network.

Switch D-Link DES-1024R + My problem is not gateways automatic

No It's not virus . It is issue of ip address in your computer. You can set ip address with 2 method static and DHCP. For DHCP you need to enable it in router. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then click on DHCP and enable so you can get ip from router.Enable "ip get automatic in network adapter tcp ip property. If you want to ser static ip in tcp ip then gateway ip set to router ip if your router ip is 192.168.1.1 then your computer ip is 192.168.1.3 subnetmask 255.255.255.0 and gateway as 192.168.1.1 Then you can access internet Let me know if you need further assistance. How to configure d-link switch

Hi there, there is no real configuration settings for switchs as they are generally considered "Unmanaged Devices" and have no managment interface, if your using this device to connect 2 or more computers, then you need to assign ip's on each computer statically..
the general procedure for this is as follows. in Windows XP, right click on My Network (might be called network neighborhood) , click propertys, it should pop up a window with a list of items, one of them should be "TCP/IP", click on that and click Properties, in the new window, click "Use The following ip address".
on Computer A, you want to use the following settings.
IP Address: 192.168.1.5 subnet mask : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (or the ip address of your router)
Click "Use the following DNS Server addresses"
Preferred DNS Server: 4.2.2.1 Alternate DNS Server : 4.2.2.2
click ok, and do the same procedure on the 2nd and 3rd computers, in the ip address box on computer 2 and 3, add 1 to the final number, so computer B would have an ip of 192.168.1.6 Computer 3 would have 192.168.1.7 , and so on.

D-Link DES-1016D make the network failure

Is this a brand new switch? Or did it come from somewhere else? It might have an IP address assigned to it that is interfering with the rest of your network.

Try plugging in a laptop only to the switch and give the laptop a static IP, see if you can access the configuration of the switch.
