the noise is your scanner the light trying to move, you probally have the scanner lock on or the scanner rail needs a lube or moter is stuffed, but good chance scanner lock is on.
Waste toner... clean the bottle... dont just empty it... most machines try to see threw the container to see if it is empty... if it has dust on the sides it cant see threw so thinks it is full
That is a code telling you the scan lamp is not moving properly.
I wouild first of all go to the left side of the machine and look at the bottom of the scanner. On the bottom of the scanner there is a scan latch used for shipping purposes. Often times when you remove your pages from the output tray you hit it and lock the scanner.
I would think if you turn the machine off and be sure the scan lock is in the UNLOCKED position you will resolve your problem. If not leet me know please.
They are different.
A flatbed scanner works like the usual scanners you see - you put a document on a flat surface area and have it covered. Canon Lide is an example.
A pass through scanner works like the usual fax machine system wherein you will have the document to be scanned feed, and as it passes though the imaging part of the machine, it's digital copy is generated.
There are machines that works as both - Brother 185c and Samsung SCX4521F are examples of both flatbed and pass through scanners.
Turn the machine off. Look for a locking mechanism right above the area that copies exit out. There is usually a plastic knob that can be set to "lock' or "unlock". Rotate the knob to select "unlock" and this will release the scanner. You will have to look below the top frame and above the paper exit area.
the inner tray is where the paper comes out under the top scanner part there is a paper sensor at the exit mark that tells you if you have paper in the tray and lets the machine know it has come out ok. check that it hasnt locked in place.. this can give a false reading too..Good luck
just open the optics(transparent mirror) and try to take back scanner with ur hands and also check scanner belt is on the gear if it is not then put it on it as it is as the cycle chain
If the key is removed, the lock is gone from it. It's just a clear piece of plastic in there. What could be causing the L1 to happen is the ribbon cable underneath the scanner glass is out of place causing the scanner to stall. This is a common problem with the AL copier line. You can take the scanner glass off and check the cable for any binding going on with it.
