Im fixing a simular model.. ive seen this sevral times in the last week.. to ONLY way i could get past this was to take the battery out the lappy for a few hours then try turning on again.. it worked for me

Sounds like the hibernation and hard drive setting need looking at under the power controls, also check that a password is not required in returning from hibernation.
If you are able turn on the computer then go ahead and turn off the hibernate feature..To do this get into control panel power options and select Hibernate.. Uncheck the hibernate option.. If the computer is not turning on.. Try to take the battery out and reinsert it and then try to tun on.....

Hi, during the start up of WindowsXp press F8
and choose the last known good configuration,
press next , till the windows will start again
and re test see the picture.
or check the diplay settings
i have the same problem, the fan turn on, but the screen is black.
