Re boot the computer with ,( wired or wireless printer?), the printer cable in the USB port in the laptop/desktop, the windows version you have will ID the device and try to load a driver, or Go to printer in the start menu and ADD a PRINTER the software will search for the attached printer. OR use the software that came with the printer, load into the Dell and follow the instructions.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR PRINTER SET ON DEFAULT AND THAT IT IS INSTALLED PROPERLY! OR YOU CAN ALSO TRY...UNHOOKING YOUR PRINTER, SHUT DOWN YOUR COMPUTER AND HOOK YOUR PRINTER BACK UP BEFORE RESTARTING TO LET YOUR COMPUTER INSTALL YOUR PRINTER.
IF YOUR COMPUTER DOESN'T RECOGINIZE NEW HARDWARE, SUCH AS YOUR PRINTER, THAN IT IS NOT SET AS YOUR DEFAULT PRINTER!

Make sure you don't have the printer connected until after you install the driver. If you had the printer hooked up to the computer before you installed the driver, uninstall and start over. There should be a prompt during the installation process that tells you when to hook up the printer. If that doesn't work, you may have a driver for a different operating system than what you have on your computer. If you need further assistance, please email me the operating system you are using on your computer.
Hello there: First what you will have to do is to install the cd rom and install the drivers and then it will tell you when to hook up the cable to the printer and it will show you the location where it needs to hook up then simply hook up a printer cable that should have came with the printer or if you do not have it you can get from any computer store or even walmart and it just simply connects to the computer on the back or if it is a usb type you can hook it up to any usb there as well and on the other end hooks to the printer port ok then it will recognize the printer and finish installing the hardware for you then you will have to restart the computer and you will be done ok? I hope this is very helpful for you Best regards Michael
Go to Brothers web site and look for downloads or drivers. Download the drivers for your model and install them. Also if it has any software/manuals that the model uses you should find it there as well. I you already have software installed I would uninstall and reinstall the software you download.
