The yellow question mark is telling you that there is a problem with the device, namely your sound card. It is probably needing the drivers for the card. If you have the disk for the sound card, use it and install the drivers or go to the web site for the card and download and install drivers from there. This will solve your problem. Good luck

After formatting my pc, there's no sounds, i got a question mark on the following:other devices, pci device, pci modem, video controller

The reason you have exclamation marks, Red X or Unknown devices is, the drivers are not loading for the devices you have installed.
You will need to download your drivers and load one at a time, checking your device manager after each install.

Windows xp will not load audio drivers for asus m2n-vm dvi motherboard. realtek alc662

Boot your system & enter the bios. Please, carefully read the instructions at the bottom of page 1-32 in your manual. Make sure your AUDIO is set per instructions. Save & exit the bios. Create a folder on your desktop & name it, Realtek ALC662. Open the link provided; http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=fyD1uSu233yBDeCq Click the driver Download button. Than click the dropdown button & choose WinXP. Left click the + sign next to, AUDIO. Download & save the driver, Realtek ALC662 Audio Driver V5.10.0.5591, 52.96 (MBytes) into the folder you created. Open the folder, Realtek ALC662 & uncompress the .zip file keeping the uncompressed files within the Realtek folder. A new folder will be created & it will be named: RCL. Open windows device manager. Right click once on My computer icon. Slide your mouse down & left click on Properties. Click the Hardware tab, than click on the Device Manager button. Scroll down the list of icons. You should fine something like; Unknown PCI device or just a plain yellow upside down pair shaped icon with question mark or ! mark inside. Rather trying to install by using the CD sound software's setup.exe file we will do a more direct method of installation. Right click once on the unknown PCI device or the yellow pair shaped icon. Left click once on update driver. Windows hardware wizard will open. Click No, not at this time. Than click the next button. Another window will open. Left click once in the circle next to, Install from a list or specific location (Advanced). Than click the next button. Again, another window will open. We want to remove the green check mark next to, Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM...). Click the green check mark once & it will go away. Click the browse button, click the + sign next to my computer. Find the desktop folder you created, Realtek ALC662. Open it. Left click once on the RCL folder so it is high-lighted. Than click the OK button Windows search within the RCL folder & will install the correct driver software automatically. Once completed. Close all opened windows & restart you?re system. Test your audio. If you intend to use a mic, you will need to set this up through windows control panel. Open, Sounds and audio device. Good luck& thanks for using Fixya. Mike

No sound device

? mark means no sound driver install or errors in Device Manager. u can check ur mother board cd room or can search ur audio driver in web or below may be ur answer

Question: Where do I locate motherboard sound drivers?
Answer: Users who have motherboards with on-board audio (often with VIA, Realtek, or C-Media chipsets) may have issues with their audio or AC'97 errors in Device Manager. Often this is caused because the operating system has been reinstalled and the motherboard chipset drivers are not installed. To resolve this issue try following the below steps.
Let Windows redetect drivers
If you have not recently reinstalled Microsoft Windows it's possible that your audio drivers are simply corrupt. Open Device Manager and remove all devices under "Sound, video and game controllers" and any "Other devices". Once removed reboot the computer and let Microsoft Windows re-detect the audio drivers.
Motherboard chipset drivers
Reinstalling the motherboard chipset drivers will usually resolve this issue. If your computer came with a Motherboard CD, install the chipset drivers from the CD and the sound drivers if also available on the CD.
If you do not have a motherboard CD, obtain the motherboard chipset drivers from the motherboard manufacturer.
Sound card drivers
If after installing the motherboard chipset drivers you continue to have issues install the sound drivers. We suggest you download the sound drivers from the computer manufacturer or motherboard manufacturer.
A listing of motherboard manufacturers and their drivers can be found on our motherboard chipset drivers page.
