Black screeb Hi, I have a Motorola Razr V3. Very recently the exterior and main screen went black. The phone itself still works (I can still call people and receive calls) but I can not see anything on the screens. Do you have any solutions?

Hello,

The reason your phone interior and exterior screen went black is because there is a problem with the flex of the phone.

The flex is the mechanism like a ribbon that connects the screen to the panel of the phone.

All you have to do is to replace the flex of the phone.

To replace it on your own, the process to do this are as following;
  1. Get the appropriate screwdriver (Torx 5 screwdriver).
  2. Remove the four rubber stoppers surrounding the screen to reveal four screws. Remove these screws.
  3. You can now remove the front cover. To do this, use a credit card to lever the cover up. The cover clips on and the levering motion will unclip it. Start at the top, then unclip the cover at the bottom, then both sides.
  4. Now detach the camera from the phone. Simply pull the ribbon away from the phone to release it.
  5. Now unplug the other ribbon. The ribbon attaches like a plug and socket. Simply lift it up to unplug it.
  6. The ribbon you just unplugged is the flex of the phone, so you have to unscrew the lower part of the phone to remove it completely.
  7. To open the lower part, you have to open the back cover and remove the battery,
  8. Unscrew the screws you see, than split it open with a credit card or the tip of your finger, apply a little force to open it.
  9. Then unscrew the board, you will see where the other end of the ribbon is connected on the board, then you can remove it and fix a new one.
  10. Reverse the process to reassemble the phone together.
Take care

Black Screen

Hi, before sending it in or taking it to a Motorola repair station, try this. Open phone turn it over so camera is facing you with finger behind and thumb of your right hand sweeze the area between camera lens and the vol up down button to reseat the ribbon connector that is located in that area between the cases. This worked for me and it is worth trying.

If you have a USB cable and the right software you can still get the information off your phone.

Screen blacked out, need to download to sims card.

Use Motorola Phone Tools (MPT) to backup your phone to a computer. You can reload to a new phone if you have to go that route. From what your describing you just need to replace the flex cable.

Razr help

Sounds like your phone's been through some rough treatment - try taking the battery & sim card off for a while - make sure there's no moisture & if you're still having problems, stop by your dealership shop & see what they can do.
