No you dont need the cd but I use raphsody to transfer music on my mp3 player.

you need to go to the link included select you operating system and follow the directions to download what drivers you need

You can try to install your HP deskjet 5440 by going to (depending on operating system) "Start", "Printers and Faxes", "Add Printer". Select a local port. Select "HP" and Model "HP Deskjet 5440".

Simple. (1) Put your Printer CD/DVD ROM into the CD/DVD Drive and Run the Setup.Exe file.
(2) Go through the Guided Method.
(3) Connect & Turn on your Printer when prompted.

you dont need the software. Open your web browser and type in 192.168.1.1
