If you connect them and hard drive indicator light on the front of the case does not come on then you need to swap the 2 connectors around. It's an led which has to be connected the correct way to work. Same goes for the power led on the front of the case.
Make sure when installing Linux to your motherboard that you are connected to the internet and all drivers necessary for the operation of the Motherboard, and graohics and sound along with all connected devices will automatically be activated while you use YAST or any number of other setup tools, but if you have problems, dial me back
