Problem solved.
I had the exact same problem with my Magnavox TV. The screen would shrink then expand. After thrity minutes it would correct itself. Then one day it just broke - no sound and no video. I searched these forums but did not find clear instructions on how to fix it. I gave up and called in a repair tech. He fixed my TV in less than 30 minutes.  To help others like me I documented the fix and created a step by quide and repair kit to fix the problem. You can find it here. http://www.magnavoxhelp.com

Hello Immirich,
It sounds like you may have a power supply problem, since the TV is not clicking, I am going to assume that you are having a low voltage power supply issue. First I would power off and unplug the TV. Then I would take an ohmmeter and make sure that all of the fuses were good (set ohmmeter to Rx1 and measure across the fuses (it should read 0 ohms) after checking all of the fuses. Then I would do a brief check of the Horizontal Output Transistor (HOT) or the High Power Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor  (HP-MOSFET), whichever one is being used making sure that the lead that should be connected to the + power supply (Vcc) is not shorted to ground. If it is shorted, I would do a test of the IHVT (resistance (coils), Capacitance(between Anode and the metallic band of the core), and Ringer (primary side of the IHVT)) and the HV capacitor to make sure they were OK. If they are OK just replace the HOT or the HP-MOSFET and try to power on the set. If the problem was just the HOT or HP-MOSFET it should be working, if not the other tests mentioned will more than likely point you to the problem.

I hope this helps,
Thank you,
Shuttle83

SOURCE: won't power up

Look on your deflection board cp150 green capacitor with gold writing on it will have value of 2200uf 16v if this capacitor is bubbled up on top it is bad so replace all 3) cp150, cp111, cp114.
