I have a zd8000, have had problems with the vertical lines on the screen as well as a faulty battery which overheated and no longer works. After doing some more research, found the HP website to have a recall on some batteries (enter your serial number and find out if yours is part of the recall program), which they said they would send out to me free of charge in 7-10 days. I am still waiting after 7 days!
The other issue with lines on the screen may be related to the overheating of the graphics display, but HP technical support is throwing me around and no one is prepared to take responsibility as it is out of warranty. But it is obvious that the ZD8000 has a design fault and HP should be responsible for its products.

    Thankyou

I also have the hp zd8000 and it started with one line and now there are so many that they have run together and cover about a fifth of my screen. This computer is too expensive to be having this problem with so many people. I wish there was something we could do to hold HP responsible.

How do I open up my HP Pavillion zd800 case. I want to clean out the dust.

You don't need to open it up!

Turn the computer off.
Remove the battery.
Buy a can of compressed air, and give your computer a "blow-job" through every vent that you can find.

Follow the instructions on the can -- keep the can "vertical" while using it.

My hp notebook (laptop) cant start... when I open my notebook the following in sequence appear: ''window is loading files.... next there is ''A rectangular figure with moving small vertical lines from left...

Ok, at bootup, press F8, choose Boot up in safe Mode, when next window comes up, it ask if you want to go to desktop OR System restore, Choose system restore. now when next window, like a calender comes up, simply choose a date BEFORE you had problems, follow instructions, and it will reboot, this should get you back to working.

Lines on screen

First of all....you need to check the Notebook by connecting it to any Desktop Monitor to confirm whether the issue is with the LCD or with the Graphic Card of the Notebook.

Connect a Desktop Monitor to the Notebook when it is turned on and see that the Monitor is turned on.

Now, hold the FN key and press the F4 key once.

This will toggle the display of the Notebook to the Desktop Monitor.

If the Lines doesnot appear on the Desktop Monitor, the issue is with the LCD of the Notebook.

If the Lines appear on the Desktop Monitor along wtih the LCD of the Notebook, the issue is with the Graphic Card of the notebook.

In either situations, I would recommend you to go for a new Notebook rather than getting the current one repaired since it is a costly affair to get the LCD replaced and you need to change the entire Motherboard since the Graphic Card is soldered on to it.

Do reply if this helps...

Hpzd 8000 does not turn on...it is getting as soon as i turn it on....

My Zd800 did the same thing and I figured out that the power adapter connection was flakey. I move it around in the back and finally the blue light stays on. I actually replaced one power adapter thinking it was out...turned out to be the connection to the back of the computer. I have tried other power adapters and same results. Considering taking the thing apart and soldering the wires. This computer has been a royal pain the a$$ since I bought it. I will try another laptop manufacturer on my next one. Any suggestions?

HP Pavilion zd800, recharing problem

If you have a multimeter you can test the voltage coming out the end of the AC adapter to make sure your charger is functioning properly. Otherwise as is very common with laptops your DC jack is probably "loose". Meaning the internal part on the laptop side has contacts that usually succumb to general wear and tear and have to be repaired. If you have a laptop repair facility in your area that does laptop repair you'll probably want to take it to them. Or possibly contact HP at 1-800-HP-INVENT to find out the closest repair facility for you.
