    how to download videos

  • Anonymous May 26, 2008

I had the same problem. The Sony tech support told me I had to buy their software to load videos. They would not tell me how much it was until I loaded some other software first.

After many hours of fruitless endevour I've finally found the answer. You have to download Media Manager from Sony then upgrade to Media Manager Pro for £8.20. It seems a bit much to spend £100 or so on a player that doesn't come with supporting software but it was better to pay the £8.20 than splash out another £100 on an iPOD. Media Manager Pro automaticaly converts your videos when you drag and drop them to the device. It takes a while ( a 3 minute music video took 20 min ! )
but at least it works and my daughter is delighted (and so am I )

I had the same problems, but it turned out not to be a big issue at all. Windows Media Player and the Sony tool would moan about ANY .mp4 file that I tried to copy over. I checked all my encoding options. Everything seemed good.

Eventually I just used Windows Explorer and copied the files directly onto the Walkman. Everything worked perfectly first time!

You have to download the video and convert it to MPEG4 or AVC format if it isnt already then you can just drag and drop

How do I load a dvd onto my walkman.

First off get the arcsoft media converter 3, then drag and drop the videos you want to get on your mp3 player into the program, after it converts it loads them onto your mp3 player as long as it?s connected, this program will also allow you to download YouTube videos and put them on your mp3 player too.

1. you need a video converter because the walkman needs .mp4 files (i use Daniusoft video converter suite, it can convert various video even Movie DVDs to sony walkman-friendly format).
2. download ur files then plug ur walkman in and then go to start- my computer- walkman- storage media- video
3. go to start-my documents- then try to find ur .mp4 video
4. drag and drop the video file to video on ur walkman and ur done!

same thing with pictures except u go to pictures instead of videos and then drag and drop the file

Loading video to my sony NWZ-E436F.

I just got it to work!

I modified the mp4 file using awesome program called ‘SUPER’ (a video/audio conversion program) I did two things.
1) Put the video size to 320X240.
2) I put the the bitrate to 1,008kbps (the .pdf manual on the CD that came with the player states that it can handle mp4 videos up to a max 1,024kbps).

Problem relating to the play back of videos

You can use the Sony Media Manager to convert your videos. Make sure the mp4 files are: .mp4 video files that are Q VGA size (320x240) and conform to these
profiles: MPEG4-Simple P rofile, A VC Baseline P rofile v1.2, v1.3.

I have aproblem with my sony walkman

A big problem with the Sony-NWZ-S616F is that they give you squat for conversion software. What you need is Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate - Under the pre-set conversion options select "iPod (320x240)MPEG-4 Mini" than RENAME it make a new preset with say "Sony-NWZ-S616F" as the description. Don't change any settings either as it works just fine the way it was setup originally for the Ipod and I found that increasing the settings only makes it worse (in audio you lose a channel if you change anything and in video there is no real quality change it just takes longer to convert and wastes space on the player) - I have Ratatouille, Smokey and the Bandit, Surfs Up, Space Chimps and a few other full-length movies in mine. SAVE and CONVERT all your movies in your PC's hard drive and ONLY put in your player what you want to watch at the time and ONLY transfer 1 converted file at a time using a true USB 2.0 cable. IF It's too slow when transferring you will get an error that it was unable to copy the file. If you try to send over more than one file you might also get the same thing. It will take you about 45 minutes to convert an .AVI to a .MP4 but at least it will work on your player now..

MUSIC: As to getting .MP3 files in it just use Windows Explorer or My Computer and manually copy them into the MUSIC folder on the player.. I found that Windows Media Player does not like to transfer files with this player like they say it should.. tried MP-10, 11 it didn't matter..
