Radar codes I can not figure out what the codes mean when my detector goes off. I looked in my manual but it only lists them, not tell me what they are. Where I can find this information?

VG-2 is a technology that police use to detect radar detectors. Detectors with this feature will detect when VG-2 is in use, and alert you to its presence.

AND

the x,k,ka codes you see flashing are......

X, K, and Ka Superwide are the radar bands that are used by police radar guns. X band was the first band used for by radar guns, but is now the least used. All radar detectors that we carry detect all 3 of these bands.

It sure would be nice if you guys listed the codes such as:
VG2 and what it means for each individual code. This would be a big help to all of us who have your detectors in our vehicles, as you do not list them in your manuels that come with the purchase of a detector. [email protected]

OFF and L=H are display lights M-A is mute and audio alarm. The other settings are listed but it is in chinese. I would be concerned if you are using this because it might not be compatible with radar in other countries and it wont warn you

Here are some answers:
if its like most, x means dont worry unless your in hicksville alabama and the
cops steal their radars off the grocery store doors, k and ka means cop
when L goes off, it\'s most definitely a cop. L basically means "You\'re already
screwed, hurry up and pull the radar detector off your window to lessen the blow
there is no Sa on mine, just S which means strobe for emergency vehicles. mine S
hardly ever goes off, the X however goes off all the time

I just need to know the meaning of each symbol for my cobra xrs 9685
X band is usually some electrical signal not to worry.
K band is usually a radar sign or machine that tells you your speed. (Small town Sheriffs use this band also because they cant afford newer technology)
Ka means K band America- If you see this symbol slow down and look around.
Ku means K band Europe- If you see this symbol slow down and look around

What does it mean when detector powers on and service required
When powering up, the detector goes through a short diagnostics test to make sure everything is working as expected. If there is a problem detected during this time, a message like the one you have displayed will appear. You should contact Beltronics Customer Support to arrange service with one of the methods listed at the bottom of this post.

NEED INSTRUCTION/OWNER MANUAL
Uniden has been out of the radar detector business for some time now. I would strongly suggest getting a different radar detector instead of using this older model since newer radar detector models generally have far better performance -- especially for detecting Ka band radar.

Anyway, Uniden's web site does not list an instruction manual for this particular radar detector model. Yet, take a look at the instruction manual for the most similarly numbered product model shown in the following link:

One of the instruction manuals in the above link should be similar enough to your radar detector so that you can figure out everything regarding your specific Uniden RD model.

Codes
"K" IS LOCAL POLICE BAND, "KA" IS STATE TROOPER, AND "X" IS SILENT ELECTRONIC ALARM SYSTEMS. HAVEN'T FIGURED OUT WHAT "VA-2 ALERT" IS YET.

Hi, with just a quick look, i couldn't find a manual for you, but the x, k, ka are the different types of radar that the law inforcement uses. Here's a link that will show the freq's of the different bands.
