My Whirlpool Cabrio top load washer is flashiing dl and after initiating the cycle shuts itself down. Isaw from another post that this is a door lock issue but what do I do to fix it?

A Door Lock Error occurs if the door cannot be locked. It will try to lock it six times before displaying the error code. It has happened because Door lock mechanism is broken or removed from door. It may also happen due to Door switch/lock unit failure. To resolve the issue follow these steps---
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Check door switch/lock unit.
3. Check the wire harness connections to the door switch/lock unit and Central Control Unit (CCU).

Check for the following when dl occurs:

• Door Lock Mechanism broken.

• Check Door Lock/Switch Assembly for foreign objects

• Check Wire Harness connections to the Door Lock/Switch Assembly and Central Control Unit (CCU)

• Door Lock/Switch Assembly Failure

Replace the door lock. If the door mechanism fails the unit will not run. It is a safety mechanism.

DL= Door Lock...you must have a problem with the door lock. Good Luck, I hope this helped

DL or F 83 is a door lock issue. Make sure the light is off before opening the lid and also check where the lock is for build up a gunk.
