    Thanks dauphine,

I had tried this earlier. Retried it to no avail..Tried some others close to that model..NADA..
Thing is about this lil beastie is that it sometimes is not found by xp pro..EX: CD inserted close drawer..try to open my computer and it searches and searches..I have pulled up the properties on this drive 100's of times to reset it to mixed content no action and it always goes back.. Think i'm going to take my ball peen and fine tune it..Anyway I don't think this one has a solution..But thanks so much for trying...

PS..We need a diagnosis program for cd's and dvd drives to see what is actually happening in there...

Cannot record on my teac2500hdr

It sounds like the software update fubar'd the machine. I would suggest contacting the company who made the machine and asking them for help. Or it's possible that a firmware update is needed.

My DVD player and CD burner is no longer reading DVD I can do the model it is a SONY CRX835E.

Hi

Are you sure that this dvd-rom can support the DVD media you are using?

There DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD+R and DL (Dual Layer) DVD formats now, not all of which might be supported by older combo drives like yours.

Also try a DVD Lens Cleaner disc to clear any dust, grime and dirt from the DVD Lens.

Check if the DVD you are trying has region limitations in conflict with the region settings in your Video Decoder program (such as PowerDVD, WinDVD etc,n s.). If so, you can sometimes change the region settings a limited number of times in the Tools option of your Video Decoder.

Try downloading and installing firmware updates from the Sony Support site.

make sure Autorun is not disabled in your settings.

My computer > right click on DVD icon > Autorun > set as the Default Setting for all similar file/media types.

I hope this helps.

I am having trouble burning to a DVD-RW,it does not recognise the disc I have in the drive,it keeps asking for a DVD-R-RW, what is the solution, thanks , Graeme

Graeme,
The LG GCC4522B CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive is NOT a DVD BURNER.
It is a "combo" drive, which means that it can only READ DVD+/- discs and READ/WRITE CD's.
There is no firmware upgrade or any other modification that can convert your combo drive to a DVD burner.

My dvd detected by device manager but not shown in my computer

Are the slave/master settings correct on the dvd player. Are you using a cable select cable or a regular ide cable? Is the cable fully inserted into drive? Is the drive installed on the same ide cable as the hard drive(sometimes that can cause a problem). You can also try removing device in the device manager and rebooting the computer and re-installing driver. And check the firmware for the drive...it may be out of date or corrupted. You can download the firmare from the manufacturer website.

Sony CRX300E CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo - DVD doesn't read

Hi,
do you have software/program that supports DVD.
Try a different DVD/Movie/Disk or alternative.
Also install a program, such as Nero which will give you physical characteristics of the drive.
Finally go to device manager, and remove or uninstall the device, reboot the computer and setup again. This can sometimes remedy the problem.
ensure that the drive is set as Master/Slave. if on the same Bus/IDE channel as a hard-drive. set as master/slave opposite to what the hard-drive is setup as.
Hope this helps.
Mike @ Compurepair.
