I have an AT&T EP5632 phone recently bought (within 2 months) and now they're not supporting it. The problem I'm having is with the handset that came with it. It made one call before a message started appearing "system busy." This went on for a few days, so I set the handset to it's default settings. Then, it never could find the base. It was always "searching for base." After no luck with AT&T, and following all the trouble shooting in the user manual to a "T", I reluctantly deregistered the phone to try and reregister it. Now it won't register. I've tried all that I know to do, and all I've found to try. Can you help?
Re: AT&T EP5632 phone won't register or find base.
I had the same problem happen to me as well and I took the batteries out of all handsets, and unplugged the base for a few minutes. Then plugged in the base, reinstalled the batteries and it registered all handsets lickety-split. Hope this helps you.
Did not work for me. My cordless handsets both still say, "Searching for Base".Did not work for me. My cordless handsets both still say, "Searching for Base".
Didn't work for me. Any other ideas? (I left them all unplugged for at least 5 minutes.)Didn't work for me. Any other ideas? (I left them all unplugged for at least 5 minutes.)

This sounds like Handset #1 has lost its "registration" with
the base. De-registering & re-registering is often easy.
First, be sure the handset battery is well charged as a
weak battery will interfere with the registration process.
Then try this ( 'works for the D1680, D1481, & similar):
To deregister the handset:
1. Press and hold the [END] and [ # ] keys at the same time,
after a few seconds the display will say
"System Reset, Deregister Handset"
press [SELECT]
scroll to "Base Unavailable"
press [SELECT] (chirps) press [END]
display reads "Place in base..."
Next, to re-register the handset:
2. Set the handset into the base cradle and wait,
within ~30 seconds the handset should display
a "Handset #" and be good to go.

( III.) To register the cs6114 handset to the base:
1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold for
~4 sec until the "In Use" lamp lights.
2. press # on the handset and set the handset into
the handset cradle on the base
3. within 30 seconds or so, the handset will either
chirp and display "Handset Registered", then
"Handset #x" or it will say "Registration Failed".
NOTE: the battery must be well charged prior to the
registration process, a weak battery may cause a
"Registration Failed". Charge the battery for a
few hours and try the registration ( III ) again.
NOTE 2: Some cs6114 bases do not have the "In Use"
lamp indicator. To register the handset simply park it
displaying "Not Registered" in the base cradle and wait
for the registration to occur. Pressing # as above may
be required, maybe not.

Good luck !!
use the pager button, keep it pressed for about 15 seconds, and then use the register option from the phone, handset will pick up the signal. You may have to do this multiple times.
try deleting all headsets using primary headset (marked with no.1): 4-base/8-deregister/default pin '0000' and register them again using each headset (3-headset/8-register/same pin). it worked for me.
Cancel the old handsets registration at the previous base unit if desired.
For additional handsets, you must register each of them at the new base unit. Only one handset can be registered at a time. A handset will be assigned anextension number at registration. Make sure the base unit and the other handsets are not being used. Program the same way as the extra handset you bought.
To deregister ALL handsets: Step 1: Press and hold FIND HANDSET on the main telephone base for 10 seconds.
Step 2: When the IN USE light starts to flash, release the FIND HANDSET button.
Step 3: Press and release FIND HANDSET again. The IN USE light will turn off and in a few seconds, all handsets will be de-registered.
Step 4: All handsets will show NOT REGISTERED.
To register a handset (register 1 handset at a time): Step 1: Place the handset in the base unit or a charger that is connected to a power outlet. If PRESS FIND HNDST 4 SEC ON BASE does not appear on the screen after a few seconds, lift up handset and place in base or charger again.
Step 2: On the telephone base, press and hold FIND HANDSET for four seconds. Release FIND HANDSET once the IN USE light comes on.
After
a while the handset will emit a series of tones, the newly registered
handset will be assigned the lowest extension number not previously
assigned to another system handset (1-4) when successfully registered.
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 if the handset does not successfully register to
the telephone base within two minutes.
REPEAT THE REGISTRATION PROCEDURE FOR EACH SYSTEM HANDSET.
Make sure the handsets are not receiving interference from other appliances, cell phones, etc.
IF deregistering does not work .. you will need to reset the entire system Step 1: Disconnect the power to the telephone base.
Step 2: Disconnect the handset battery.
Step 3: Wait a few minutes and then reconnect the power to the telephone base.
Step 4: Reconnect the handset battery
Step 5: Wait about one minute for the handset to re-establish a link with the telephone base and then test the phone again. You will need to set the time and date again after resetting the entire system.
This does not sound good. If you have one working phone and you have swapped batteries around and still the same single phone works.... you know it's not the base unit, charger stands, power supplies or batteries. You have eliminated everything but the phone itself.
Unfortunatley these low end cordless phones cannot be expected to last. 6 months is pretty bad but I'm not surprized. These sell for $30 each new and I bet a replacement battery is $20.
