Windows 7 drivers for Optiplex GX620

Hi all,

I've got a Dell Optiplex GX620 and I'm currently running windows 7 on it. I suspect that my chipset drivers are out of date (I'm having issues with slow file copy to flash drives so want to update the drivers just in case) but Dell doesn't have Windows 7 (or even Vista) drivers for the GX620. Are there any Vista/7 drivers for a similar system that could work on mine?
Some details:
Dell optiplex GX620 (all parts are stock other than graphics card and HDD)
Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
2GB RAM
3.2GHz Pentium 4
Chipset vendor: Intel
Chipset Model: i945P/PL/G/GZ
Chipset Revision: A2
The above chipset details I got from a program called Speccy. I've tried searching Intel's website for drivers but don't have enough technical knowledge to make sense of what the different drivers are for.

How do I reset my OptiPlex gx620 with windows 7 it has to many virus and at one time was probably a school computer :[

for that computer you need to have the windows 7 disk to re-load windows and the drivers to reinstall once windows is reloaded. After backing up your data you wish to keep, put the Dell branded windows 7 disk in your CD /DVD drive and restart your computer and immediately start tapping F12 repeatedly a boot device menu should come up. select CD/DVD rom drive and hit enter. Delete all existing partitions and then click the install button on your system. you will be prompted to pick a name for your system once windows is reloaded and a password. once you have finished and it opens up to the winows 7 desktop place your drivers disk or usb flash drive containing the drivers into the system (if you do not have the drivers disk you can down load the drivers from support.dell.com for your machine) Drivers have to be loaded on this machine in a specific order. beginning with Chipset, desktop system software, then Network card, audio drivers, video driver and any other printers or other attached system devices. (windows disks can no longer be purchased from dell so if you have to have a Dell branded windows 7 disk and you weren't given one when you were sold the machine it would probably be cheaper to simply look on craigslist for another computer. that one is from 2007 after all and I am sure it's quite slow by today's standards.

I have installed Windoows 7 on my Dell OptiPlex GX620 but the audio drivers is not installed

I would try these two steps. 1. Open Internet Explorer and go to google and search for "Download VLC Player". Look for the site www.videolan.org/vlc and click it to go download vlc. VLC is a powerful open source media player that plays things the normal windows media player cannot handle. It's completely safe and it's faster to install and operates smoothly. It also copies down all the audio drives and codec that it needs. I have seen times that once it is installed, windows media player audio starts working properly too. I step one does not give you sound try step two. 2.Click Start and right above it you will notice a search box where you should type in "create a restore point". Click Create a Restore Point and follow it to create yourself a fail safe method of restoring you computer back to this point of just before you tried fixing the audio drivers. Give the restore point a name such as "I created this". Don't worry about a date and time, the system will automatically attach date and time. Once you've created a restore point open Internet Explorer and go to google and search for "Dell Support". Look for drivers and downloads and select the option to Choose from a List of Products. Your product will be Desktop/Dell Optiplex GX620. Once you've entered everything correctly you will see the drivers for the GX620. I looked and there are no Windows 7 Drivers loaded so that tell me that the Audio Driver for your previous operating system before you loaded windows 7 might be compatible. Select your previous operating system and then download and install the Audio Driver. If you have problems you can click Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. When system restore opens up if the restore point that you created is not shown look for Selecting Additional Restore Points so that you can find the one you created. Select it and sit back and be patient while windows restores your system. *** You only need to restore if your system is going crazy on you.

Hardware manufacturer of optiplex GX 620 audio controller

You can download the audio and device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on thislink to download the drivers: - http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen

Lost resolution windows vista upgrade on GX260

Hi all,

I tried numerous solutions for this issue and none of them worked except this one. I tested it with Vista Ultimate and don’t know if other Vista versions have the same drivers but here’s what worked for me:

1. Right click ‘Computer’ then left click ‘Properties’ to open up System window.
2. Click ‘Device Manager’
3. Click ‘+’ on ‘Display Adapters’ and you should see the drivers for your video. Right click and select ‘Update Driver Software...’
4. Select ‘Browse my computer for driver software’ and click ‘next’.
5. Click ‘Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer’
6. Untick ‘Show compatible hardware’
7. Select ‘Intel Corporation’ then select ‘Intel 82865G’. Click next.

This will install the drivers. No they are not the same drivers for the hardware but they work a treat!
