To clarify, the plate is turning and the light is on but there is no heat on microwave, convection or any of the settings. Basically it is not cooking/heating up at all.

  • dawnrazor Apr 21, 2008

There is nothing wrong with the door. It is simply not cooking.

Can you clarify what you mean by "not cooking properly on any setting"?

    Thanks.

My microwave convection oven just stopped working and the error code 0--o came up.

Error code f2 is displayed on screen once the cooking has completed

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch (usually the top one), a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

If you someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Sorry, but how was my solution inappropriate??

Looking at recent model LG microwave schematics, everything points to a failure of the top door switch or its mount...

I would again refer you to my answer above.

As shown in the sample drawing below, there are hidden switches that get activated by the hook-like projections on your microwave's door whenever the door is closed.

That's how the microwave knows whether its door is open or closed.

One of those hidden door switches (probably the top one) is not getting activated when the door is closed.

    That's why it won't heat.

It's a little bit like the door switch on your clothes dryer - if you open the door, it stops running.

Or the door switch on your fridge that turns the inside light on when your open the door and turns it off when you close the door.

Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

What does F2 mean?

The error code F2 on your GE microwave indicates "Shorted thermal sensor", this condition will occur if a shorted thermal sensor is detected continuously over 5 seconds on convection, combination or roast cooking.
. It takes a minimum of 5 minutes of convection run time before this code will be
displayed. More information on this error code, as well as other error codes, can be found at
http://www.applianceaid.com/micro_faultcodes.html#gemicro

My Sharp microwave convection oven (R-967M / R96STM) cuts out during convection pre-heating and cooking, It appears it stops heating after 1 min. If the START button is pressed again the oven starts...

Also the fact it is a convection oven could mean the oven temperature sensor is not picking up the oven temp. it is not telling the machine it is there by the board seeing its resistance, the unit will shut off as a safety feature. The oven sees temperature by reading the value of a temperature dependent resistor. As the temperature changes so does the value of the component ( oven temp sensor) that way the unit determines the temperature inside the unit. Sometimes those sensors will break since they are in the area with the heat and moisture, they get old and break.

Glass turntable in tricity tmc209 says "microwave only" What do I use for convection or combi cooking? Does turntable still need to rotate for convection cooking?

definately dont use the standard glass plate for convectional 'oven' cooking, as it will shatter. i have had TWO plates shatter so far before realising they should only be used for microwave cooking.
