place a turned on torch against the tv screen while tv on can you see a picture ? If yes then back light problem possibly inverter that powers the back light.
You tubesearch on tv faults for more insight on possible causes of black screen or no screen on Tv's
if no picture with torch then it might be main board .
Check you tube for ideas on possible causes.
Most likely the power supply board needs to be replaced. It could also be the T-con board or less likely the display itself.
If you don't know what you're doing, DON'T OPEN THE TV UP TO FIX IT, THERE ARE HAZARDOUS VOLTAGES ON THE POWER SUPPLY BOARD, EVEN WEEKS AFTER THE TV IS UNPLUGGED!
If you don't know how to do it yourself, find some local Electronic repair shops, get quotes, try to find reviews on the shops.

TV Repair Help for a TV With a Black No Image on the Screen ...I Have A Sanyo TV I Can Hear But Black Screen Im 14 And Dont Know What To Do ! .... power button the power light goes from red to green, the screen flashes on then goes black ....Troubleshooting LCD Backlight Failure Samsung LNT-4066 ...
the low voltage side is weak there is a 5 volt side on the main power this is where standby is and also is used for startup, it sends power to the startup switch if its to low even just by a few volts it may not have the power to turn on the tv fully and take longer for the screen to come on. on the power board check the capacitors there are a few 16v and one or 2 6.5volt types theses maybe weak. if you replace them. they also like to put inferia capacitors in the power board so that it will need repairing so buy a good brand 105c type black or gold type these last far longer and even out the power consumption in the board.
Check that all voltages are coming from the power supply as they should. The power supply will be stamped with the correct amounts, and you just read with the multimeter to confirm.
After those check out ok, you will need to replace the inverter to "light" your screen again.
You can hear sound because the tv is ON, but the inverter isn't lighting the screen!
