Hi
I'm having a problem with my Desktop HP Pavillion xt 967,P4
I turn it on the light comes on, I hear the HD but nothing
happens (it's not the monitor neither the video card)
Does anyone know how to test the motherboard?
Thx Ron
Try removing all cards and devices but the video card and the ram and see if it has any video output. If so then add devices one at a time until you loose it again. That should help you find the bad device/cardTry removing all cards and devices but the video card and the ram and see if it has any video output. I have a Compaq that came with this board and a celeron 1.8 or 2.0 I believe. The fastest P4 that will run is a Intel Northwood 2.8 Ghtz 400 FSB nothing ELSE! Northwood 2.8 is the fastest 400 FSB, the boards chipset won't run anything faster than 400 FSB. Mine is running, Win 7 the Northwood P4 2.8 with 2 gigs ram, 160 gig HD and a 256 video card for over 5 years (minus win 7, had XP before with no issues. Good for light gaming, web surfing and MS office! Add a Zotac 512 MB PCI or Sparkle Video card and you can handle most more medium gaiming out today! My cards have HDMI and DVI output. I highly recommend it!
Good day sir, hi, your HP can either be of the ff.
your lcd back light is bad, your lcd screen is dark, but you can see HD light blinking. This is happening when the laptop is loading windows. problem with the inverter circuit that provides power to the back light.
Your back light is bad also can produce no visible screen.
The said problem can be repairable by simply replacing the said parts. but you need to dissassemble the laptop, Or get it repaired by your dealer. either of the two said solution you need cash. but check out first the warranty or estimates of repair. get the best deal.
HP has been really great with my pavillion desktop and its out of warranty and they still help me with the issues and help me solve them it may take a while to get it taken care of you may have to emial back in forth to get your promblem taken care of. Here is the email support that you can try just provide the modle number and the serial number that should be located on one side of the computer or on the bottom of the tower, and Good Luck! You have nothing to worry about as this is normal operations. All the computer is doing is checking drives and reading any disks that maybe in the drive. If there is no disk in the drive the LED indicator light will still come on but should resume Windows quicker.
Since you have another vga card, is it pci, if it is install it to see if if works, if it does them problem solved, if not let me know then can help ya further.

Hold the power button in on the computer for 5 seconds. Wait another 5 seconds. Now hit the power button as you normally would to turn the PC on. It should boot normally.
Is the pc has blinking power in it. or do your hear any beeping sounds? but anyway you can do check your PC. unplug the pc and open the system. remove and clean the memory and insert it again. and fix all connection inside the pc maybe some cable lessen. after that test the pc. and then tell me what happen i will give you more solution in it. melnavz
I put another one in
I hear no beep a all
When you start your pc do you hear a beep or a series of beeps?
How are you sure it is not the video card/driver?
